Seeking Teacher and Admin Presenters for the Second Annual BASD Technology Academy

Dates: Monday and Tuesday, August 15 and 16, 2016

Time: 8:30AM - 3:30PM Each Day

Location: Northeast Middle School

Academy Theme: Dream Big: Inspire, Innovate, Collaborate

We are currently seeking presenters for our Technology Academy Conference. If you are doing something in your classroom with technology that you'd like to share, please consider sharing it with other teachers in August! Please fill out the RFP (Request for Proposal) with presenter information, description of presentation, etc. Collaborating with someone else would be a great way to get involved! RFP's are due May 13. Please contact me if you have any questions!

Learn more about presenting on the Tech Academy's Presenter page.

Attendees: BFLEX hours will be awarded to those who attend a full day of the conference. You can earn 12 hours for attending both days.

The Second #BASDChallenge Twitter Challenge was a Success!

Also, thanks go out to Kathy Corpora, BASD Tech Integration Specialist for the middle schools, for coordinating this second Twitter challenge. Please send well-wishes to Kathy as she will be retiring at the end of this school year!

I've heard questions from other staff if we will do another one of these next year. The answer is YES! While it was a great way to earn some BFLEX time, many thought it was rewarding experience collaborating with other teachers.

Google Classroom Updates and How To Make Chrome Open Email Links (Instead of Mail.app)

Both Amber Chiafulio (FHS) and Lisa Gilliard (LHS) contacted staff excitedly when they learned about Google's #TeacherAppreciation gift from Google - the ability for PARENTS to sign up for updates from Google Classroom!

Google introduced another feature that same day: the ability to schedule Google Classroom posts ahead of time (and they would automatically appear when you want)!

Learn more about these features here!

In addition, I recently heard a question from some staff members (thanks, Stacey Burke and Karl Peters) about having email links open in Chrome (and NOT the Mac Mail.app on the computers). Yes, there is an easy way to change that! Check out my blog post here to learn how!

Thanks For a Great Year of Workshops!

I want to thank all staff who participated in attending or by presenting technology BFLEX sessions this past school year. While the current year for BFLEX hours is drawing to a close, please remember that they will be more opportunities over the summer and next school year. If you are interested in learning about a technology topic next year, please contact me!
