A tsunami, also known as a seismic sea wave, is a series of waves in a water body caused by the displacement of a large volume of water, generally in an ocean or a large lake
Tsunamis are dangerous
Tsunamis can reach 100 feet in height and travel at speeds up to 100 miles per hour smashing into a city. The most dangerous tsunamis have hit an the coasts of Hawaii, Alaska, Washington, Oregon and California.
Where are they at?
Around 80% of tsunamis occur inside the ring of fire which is in he Pacific Ocean. T he normally happen here because it's an active area were tectonic shifts happen causing valcanoes and earthquakes happen. This is mainly where all of the larger tsunamis occur.
