Keepin' it 100!

The second half of the school year is off to a quick start. This week at Fletcher we continued our celebration of Black History month with a guest speaker on the 100th day of school. Rev. Bruce Jackson spoke with our 2nd-5th graders about the importance of staying true to oneself (aka Keepin' it 100), making your dreams a reality, and how that ties in to the celebration of Black excellence this month. In the afternoon, our staff was treated to a healthy lunch from Panera (thank you PTA!) and then toured the VEBA Resource center to learn about all the wellness options available such as free yoga classes, acupuncture, mental health counseling, and nutrition counseling. They even got to experience a mindfulness and stretching class taught by expert instructor, Pilar Murillo.

Our running club surpassed a major milestone too! So far our runners have covered more than 2,500 total miles. That's 11,375 laps around the track!

The next two weeks will be short weeks as we wind down Trimester Two. As a reminder, there is no school on Friday the 18th and Monday the 21st.

Sometimes,

what you're looking for

is already there.

Student of the Week - Janie!

This week's Student of the Week is Janie in Mrs. Duncan's class. She always tries her very best on all her assignments. Janie loves to bring in books to read in front of the class. Janie goes above and beyond in her learning making books at home to share with our class. Some examples of books she has made are Nutrition for health and The Sky Above in science. Janie is a budding artist, too. To top it off, she loves to help others. She is a super star in Room 10! Congratulations Janie, and thank you for being a phenomenal Falcon!

FREE COVID TESTING SITE - 7 DAYS A WEEK

San Diego Unified School District now has a new testing site for all students and staff. If your student is showing symptoms at home or at school, this new resource will provide a quick and easy way to get test results so they can return to school as soon as possible. Testing will now be available at the Education Center located at 4100 Normal Street, 92103. It's only FIVE MILES away from Fletcher!

The site is open from 7:00AM - 7:00PM MONDAY through FRIDAY and 8:00AM - 5:00PM on Saturday and Sunday. No appointments necessary! Prior to testing, if your student isn't already registered to receive weekly testing on site, families will need to register for a Primary Health Portal account. https://my.primary.health/l/sdusd_testing.
