Superstar Snapshots
May 2021
Happy May!
Can you believe that we are almost done with May? Even though time is going by fast, there’s still lots of learning to do! Last week, I sent out a video message about our excessive tardies. Thank you so much for making sure our Superstars got to school on time. We have seen a dramatic drop in our tardies. Keep up the good work!
I wanted to let you know that our Student of the Month Assembly is scheduled for May 28 beginning at 12:55. We will be recognizing students for March, April, and May. Zoom information will be sent out through Class Dojo later this week.
I have a lifetime goal of learning something new every day. This school year, this has been much to learn: how to run a school in a remote setting, hybrid learning, and a return to full time learning. My biggest lesson, however, has come from our Superstar students. They are so resilient. They keep trying and, even in the midst of a pandemic, there has been so much growth. Superstars, I am proud of you! Thank you for teaching to never give up.
Stephanie Teel, Principal
Believe you can achieve!
Spirit Week
Next week is school spirit week! We hope all of our Superstars join in on the fun!
Monday: Silly Sock Day
Tuesday: Crazy Hair Day
Wednesday: Merry Christmas Day (wear a Christmas shirt)
Thursday: Hero Day (no masks)
Friday: School Spirit Day! Wear red, white, and blue or a school shirt.
Welcome!
Right before Spring Break, Mrs. Hopfe retired. We have a new school nurse. Ashley Sherman joined our Superstar family in April. Nurse Ashley is doing a fantastic job of getting to know our Superstar students and take care of students when they aren’t feeling well. If you are at the school office, make sure to welcome Nurse Ashley and introduce yourself to her.
Conscious Discipline
Well, it looks like we made it! We have made it through a year like no other. We have been remote, hybrid, back to remote, back to hybrid and then all back together again! You have all done this with grace and perseverance. Thank you parents for all your support to both our staff and to your students throughout this crazy year.
Take this summer to recharge and enjoy all things that summer has to offer. Do not forget to still read and practice up on those math skills too. For those of you who are taking advantage of summer school, enjoy the journey of learning!
Please keep a lookout for information in regards to next year! Although we are currently ending a year, the plans for next year are well on their way! We are all hoping that next year will bring us all normalcy and consistency. Thank you again for sharing your student(s) with us each day and we cannot wait to see them again next year with a fresh new start, in a brand new year!
Best Wishes,
Mrs. Childers, Behavior Coach

Counselor's Corner
Hello Superstar Families and Students! The finish line is close and we are down to a few weeks of school. This year has certainly been an adventure and despite the challenges, students have made new friendships, strengthened old ones and spent their year with an amazing staff.
This month we are revisiting the Skill of Choices. Specifically by focusing on developing the ‘Power of Free Will’. Conscious Discipline teaches that “The Power of Free Will means that I am in charge of me and I’m the only person who can make myself change.” This is important because often when we want things to be different we must start by changing ourselves first.
One way to help students develop this is through how we give them choices. This looks like: 1. Focus on what you want the child to do. 2. Tell them in a positive tone that they have choices. 3. Clearly state two positive choices that will achieve the goal. 4. Ask the child for a commitment. 5. Notice their choice.
Having choices gives power and helps students develop an “I can attitude” when things get tough. Join us in helping our students finish well. We hope that summer time is restful and look forward to students returning in the fall ready to learn.
We wish you well.

¡Feliz Mayo!

¡Hola familias y estudiantes superestrellas!
