Custodial Notification
Please assist us in the handling of custody related issues. It is the responsibility of the parents to provide the principal a certified copy of the court order affecting any other person’s right to their children. Should you have any questions please call Dawn Proctor at 832-484-7705.
Attendance Reminders
Attendance plays a major role in ensuring that your child achieves educational excellence. It is our hope and desire that your child gets the most of their educational experience. By attending school every day each child is a step closer to obtaining that goal! We understand that extenuating circumstances or illness are inevitable and ask that upon your child’s return to school, you promptly send in a medical note or parent notification. In order to document the excused absence we must receive a note within 5 days from the child’s return to school.
School starts by 8:05 each day, and students are welcome in the building as early as 7:50. We love having our Leopards at school every day, all day! Questions? Please call our attendance secretary, Mrs. Sanford, at 832-484-7708.
TRANSPORTATION CHANGES
Students will not be allowed to change their method of transportation unless there is a written note or a phone call from the parent/guardian. You may call the front desk (832-484-7750) or write a note notifying the school of any transportation changes.
Early Release Procedures
Having students remain in school for the entire school day is a critical part of student academic success. Should a situation occur requiring you to pick your child up early, please adhere to the following guidelines:
Students may not be called out of the class until the parent/guardian arrives on campus. Please plan to arrive allowing enough time for office personnel to call for your student. Please report to the front office to sign your child out. (Remember, a photo ID is always required). Students may only be released to authorized individuals listed in Skyward unless a phone call from the parent/guardian or a written note is sent to the office ahead of time. Early release for students’ after school programs will not be able to be honored. Many of our school programs conclude in the afternoon nearing the end of the day. We ask that you please allow your child to return to class and dismiss the way they normally go home.
Unless it is an emergency, we will not be able to honor early dismissals after 2:30 pm. The entire front office team focuses on preparing for student dismissal during this time. Last minute student requests make it very difficult to assure that we are prepared for a safe and orderly dismissal. Should you have an emergency requiring an early dismissal after 2:30 p.m., please speak to one of the administrators.
Party Invitations to Outside Events
Please note the teacher cannot facilitate the delivery of invites to any outside events i.e. birthday parties, sleepovers etc. The delivery of party invitations should happen outside of the instructional day.
Birthday Treats
Birthday Snacks
Please contact our school nurses if you want to purchase/bring a birthday snack for your child and classmates at least two weeks prior to your child’s birthday. Our nurses will get in touch with our cafeteria manager who will then contact you with the total cost. There are several choices such as cookies, ice cream and popsicles. We prefer for all birthday snacks to be purchased in this manner, however if you would like to bring in an outside snack for the class it must be approved at least two weeks in advance with a list of all ingredients used and where the snack was prepared/purchased. We have so many students with allergies that we have to be diligent in making certain that we are not allowing any ingredients that would trigger an allergic reaction in anyone.
Therefore, please follow our guidelines. It is very sad for us to decline a birthday snack on a student’s birthday because appropriate procedures have not been followed.
Birthday Treat Bags
Birthday treat bags are available to celebrate your child's birthday with their class. Order forms are available in the front office, by the school store, or contact Lisa Swan 832-484-7704
DIGITAL FLYER DELIVERY
Our school launched a digital flyer communication tool last year called “Peachjar.” To view school-approved digital flyers, you will simply click the Peachjar button on the school’s website.
This “green” initiative will save our schools tons of paper and reduce copy costs by thousands of dollars. On top of that, posting school flyers in this electronic backpack removes a significant administrative burden from teachers, office staff, and volunteers.
To ensure smooth delivery of this communication, we suggest you add “kleinisd@peachjar.com” to your email contacts. When you receive your first eflyer, be sure to click “always display images.”
This system is used exclusively for distribution of school-approved flyers. Your email address will not be shared or used for any other purpose.
Thank you for supporting our efforts to ensure parents are well informed about school programs, activities, and events.
A Message From Mrs. Proctor
We have had an AMAZING first few weeks of school! Our students and staff worked hard at reviewing our core values of PROWL and the Profile of a Learner. This year our campus has three main goals for the 2017-2018 school year:
- We will strive to foster an educational environment which creates opportunities that allow for all students to make a minimum of one year's growth.
- We will empower promise2purpose investors through unwavering support of individual ideas while cultivating a culture of interdependence.
- We will equip values-driven leaders through celebrating diverse cultures and abilities, promoting unwavering character and create students who adopt a "we not me" mindset.
We look forward to another amazing year where at Benignus Elementary, we are Proud to have you as part of our PROWL.
