Our Mission
We will assist public middle and high school students in Forsyth County in preparing themselves for successful college enrollment.
Our Vision
We seek to ensure that every public school student in Forsyth County has the opportunity to attend college.
What we do know, is you still did it! You are a high school graduate. You are moving on to college and your future after this year! You have accomplished big goals and for that we are extremely proud of you. Congratulations on a job well done. Don't let this season of isolation and cancelled plans take away from the excitement of your accomplishments this year!
We also know that this time may come with more questions than answers for your future. We hope to provide as much information as we can regarding your enrollment decisions and financial aid. Please check out our website here to stay up to date with the impacts of COVID-19 on College Planning. Final Steps in College Enrollment
Once you have made your final college enrollment decision, you should:
- submit an enrollment deposit
- submit housing and medical forms
- plan to attend orientation, whether virtually or in-person
- make sure your school counseling office knows where to send your final transcript
- update the college name field in your Crosby Scholars Student Portal
- peruse all communication from the college to remain up-to-date on plans for fall semester
My College Major Is . . .
If you are undecided on a major, take heart in knowing that the majority of students have no idea what they want to study when they leave for college. Some who are "sure" of what they want to major in ultimately change their minds at least once. Here are some steps to take towards figuring out your college major:
- Think about the classes you really enjoyed in high school, and consider whether you want to dive deeper into those subjects in college.
- If you begin college with AP/IB credits or advanced standing in some subjects because of taking AP/IB courses, use that opportunity to sign up for some classes just because they sound intriguing. You never know where that will lead.
- Meet with your advisor early to map out a plan for meeting all basic graduation requirements while leaving room to explore possible majors.
- Schedule an appointment with the professor of a favorite course, and ask about his/her career progression. Many college instructors worked outside of academia at some point and are willing to share information about their prior work experience.
- Find your way to the career services office early in your college journey. Use the resources at their disposal, including interest tests and personality inventories, to help guide you towards prospective majors.
- Ask about conducting research for one of your professors. It is a great way to learn more about the subject area and to develop a close working relationship with someone who might ultimately provide solid career advice.
Thank You Notes
Thank you notes are a simple but powerful way to show your appreciation. There are so many people who have supported you throughout your high school career and especially during the college admission process. Write a simple thank you note to demonstrate how grateful you are to them for contributing to your life in a meaningful way.
Parents can monitor their senior’s Crosby Scholars Student Portal, view announcements and events, and confirm if their senior has fulfilled each program requirement by logging into their Parent Portal. If you need assistance accessing your parent portal, emailseniorprogram@crosbyscholars.or or call our office at 336.725.5371.
Only students who complete the Crosby Scholars Senior Program are eligible to apply for Last Dollar Grants and Crosby scholarships.
