PrinciPAW's Post
Our thoughts and prayers continue to go out to our neighbors to the south who have suffered so much loss and devastation. In times like these, it is heartening to see so many people make sacrifices to help out. Thank you for your generous donations of supplies. The response was great indeed. In order to supplement this with a monetary donation, we are having a free dress day fundraiser on Friday. We are asking that every child that enjoys the free dress day bring at least $2 on that day (not before) to donate to the cause. Please refer to the note that is sent home in the Wednesday folder for more information.
We have started counting tardies. If your child is not in their classroom by 7:50, they are considered tardy. Please plan ahead especially if you are using carpool.
To our PTA members who have voluntarily stood in the heat helping direct traffic, we could not have done it without you. Our PTA is the BEST in the parish!

Skoolbo will keep track of the number of questions your children get correct. Once your children have answered 1,000 questions correctly, they will receive (at the next award's assembly) a certificate and invitation from ANECA. ANECA has agreed to absorb the cost of opening a savings account for your child and will put an additional $5 in the account. Once your child has earned 5000 correct answers, your child will receive another invitation and ANECA will add another $5. Once your child answers 10,000 questions correctly, ANECA will put $15 in their bank account.
It is our hope that this partnership builds financial literacy and confidence is our students' money-management skills, therefore, giving them one more tool in their toolbelt for success later in life!
Mrs. Chirhart will teach your children to log into Skoolbo in iPad Lab this coming week. After that, your child's login information will be sent home.

Welcome from the PTA President!
Hello Shreve Island Families!!
Congratulations! We had a fantastic start to school!
My name is Alyson Foreman and I am honored and excited to be the PTA President for the 2016-2017 school year! For those of you I have yet to meet, I have 3 sweet kiddos, Ben (5th), Kate (3rd), and Sarah Margaret (3rd).
We have so many projects in the works this year. Normally, that means Fall and Spring fundraisers in which your children are asked to participate by selling cookie dough, wrapping paper, etc. THIS year we are shaking things up a bit. We won't be asking them (you) to take on this additional task!
Instead, here are a few ways we will be raising money for school projects:
1) Membership--It's only $6! Because it's such a steal, let's reach our goal of 100% participation!
And membership doesn't mean we will be bugging you every time you turn around.
2) Smart Slice (formally known as Pizza Slice)--We are increasing these from 3 times a year to nearly every month. PLUS, we are including a Free Dress option on these days for only $1.00.
3) Fall Bash--We are combining our Fall Fest (carnival) and Bulldog Bash (carnival + Silent Auction) and holding the event each year. This year it falls on Friday, October 28th from
4-7pm.
4) Dawg Dash 5k/Fun Run--This will be held in April and we are making this an annual event!
All these events will help fund various projects on campus, such as: replacing the stage curtains in the Cafetorium, working to revamp the playgrounds, providing teachers’ salaries for After School Academy, and funding several Professional Development opportunities for our incredible staff (i.e., workshops and conferences).
None of this would be possible without your continued support! Let's SYNERGIZE to provide the best educational community for us all!
See you around campus!
