Oh! The Places You'll Go!
2015-2016 LVES Weekly Staff Newsletter
Week of January 18-22, 2016
Professional Development Day
I am attaching Monday's agenda to the email today. We will start promptly at 8:00 in the library with breakfast tacos, fruit and coffee:-)
Early Release Friday
We will release at 11:30 on Friday, January 22nd. Kindergarten and 1st grade will have specials that day. Specials times are:
- 7:55 - 8:45: 1st Grade
- 8:50 - 9:40: Kindergarten
Please make sure you let Zita know your lunch count for Friday by Tuesday afternoon. The afternoon is designated for you to hold conferences with parents for students who failed the 2nd nine weeks, or students that you are worried about. You can use the same conference form from Fall Conferences for the conferences. Eric and I will both be gone with UIL, so we will not be available to sit in on any conferences that afternoon. If you need one us in a conference, please let us know and we can be there at another time.
UIL is Friday
UIL participants will load the bus for Jarrell at 10:45 on Friday. All participants will need to have their sack lunch (if ordered from cafeteria) before loading the buses. I will make an announcement to release UIL students once the bus arrives. If you are going to Jarrell as a monitor, judge or director, you will need to split your class for the last 45 minutes of the day.
Good luck to all of our UIL participants and coaches!!
Randy Mathisen's Day
Randy Mathisen will be on our campus one day a week! His scheduled day will be Thursday, however, for the next couple of weeks he will be here on Fridays due to previous commitments. Randy is here to assist you with instructional technology needs, so please let him know how he can assist you.
DRA and IStation
Please make sure that you take your students to the computer lab for the monthly IStation assessment. This data, along with DRAs, will help us determine Tier 3 students. The DRA window will close on January 29th. K-1 will need to DRA all students, 2-4 will need to DRA students below grade level or students that you are worried about. Joanne and Rachel will DRA students they pull for Title 1.
Math Screeners
To be consistent with the beginning of the year math screeners, we will be administering MCOMP/MCAP and Early Numeracy assessments. Tasha will send out a schedule soon for the Early Numeracy assessments for K and 1. She will put the copies in your boxes that you will need for MCAP and MCOMP. Please administer these the week of January 18th - 22nd, and have the results to Tasha by Wednesday, January 27th.
Calendar Invites
When you receive a calendar invite for meetings (ARDS, staffings, RtI, etc), please make sure to accept the meeting so that we know who will be attending. This is especially important for ARDS, as those meetings have to be held within a certain time period and everyone who is invited must be in attendance.
Thank you so much for your help!
PLC's this week...
We will have PLCs on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Keep sending the agendas ahead of time so Eric and I know what will be discussed.
Faculty Meeting
The faculty meeting this week will be Student Support Meetings. We will start in the library at 3:05 pm.
Weekly Attendance Goal
