Important Livestock Papers Needed ASAP
**Reminder - Starting this year, due to new staff, we will be asking for livestock registration materials prior to the fair.
This will help prepare for the show process as we streamline our system. Please ensure your registration papers for all your registered animals are in by July 24 to the Jackson County Extension Office.
Please pass this along to 4-H members showing livestock:
Required Paperwork Prior to County Fair (DUE BEFORE JULY 24)
REGISTRATION PAPERS: If your animal is registered for beef and swine, the LATEST we can receive your registration paperwork is at the time of check-in. If you do not show proof of papers before that time, you will be in the commercial class. Papers MUST be uploaded into FairEntry to be able to show in the purebred classes at the State Fair.
POULTRY BLOOD TEST: Turkeys and chickens are required to have a blood test taken prior to county fair stating that they are Pylori free or paperwork from the hatchery (if you bought from Runnings, Bomgaars, etc. you may receive them there) stating this information. To get a blood test done, contact June Kellner: (507) 831-3100 or Blake Rossow: (507) 822-3739.
HORSE COGGINS: Coggins for horses MUST be to the office, or in hand prior to unloading at any 4-H event; practice, fun show, barrel racing, etc.
LEASE PAPERWORK: The family includes the 4-H'ers parents/guardians and siblings living together as a family unit. The definition of family includes an extended family where the animal may be owned by grandparents as long as the 4-H'ers parents are actively involved with and working on the farm. Animals owned in partnership with non-family members (as defined above) must be leased and follow lease guidelines. All information must be submitted by May 15 with 4-H Online data. Market animals (with the exception of prospect calves) cannot be leased.
PLEASE GET US THESE DOCUMENTS ASAP OR PRIOR TO JULY 24!
If you are wondering which animals need their registration papers please check in 4-H Online or contact the Jackson County Extension Office as we would be happy to help!
