Sorrick Family Focus
Week of April 22, 2019
Next week, students in Kindergarten and First Grade will take the Spring MAP assessment to measure their growth and achievement in Reading and Math. Once again, students will receive MAP goal cards where they can mark off if they put forth their best effort, took their time on the test and achieved their growth goals. At home, you can help your child be successful by ensuring that he or she gets enough sleep and is well rested for the assessment. Likewise, please encourage your child to try hard and take their time. As a reward, students will participate in a dance party during the school day to celebrate their efforts and achievement. Prior to the end of the school year, you will receive a copy of their MAP report indicating their score and growth throughout the school year.
Just a reminder, Pre-K students will NOT have school on Friday, April 26th due to Pre-K screenings. School will still be in session for Kindergarten and First Grade students. Pre-K teachers will be spending the day conducting screenings for the new Pre-K students attending next school year.
Have a fantastic week!

Important Information for Parents
PowerSchool Parent Access
A PowerSchool Parent Access account allows you to check your child's report card each quarter. The link to sign into Parent Access is https://powerschool.npd117.net/public/. The instructions for how to open the report card can be found by clicking here. If you have not yet set up a PowerSchool Parent Access account, please follow these directions to do so. Please note that you will need an "AccessID and Access Password" for each of your children.
Volunteer & Visitor Guidelines
All parents who volunteer at school (whether it be in the classroom or on a field trip) must fill out our NPD117 Volunteer Guidelines forms and submit a copy of their photo ID. New volunteer guidelines are available to download here. Please read carefully, sign and return both pages fully completed with a current photo ID to the Sorrick office at least 7 days before attending.
Sorrick follows the PBIS system, which stands for Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports. Sorrick Cougars are expected to be safe, caring, respectful, here & ready to learn on a daily basis. Our students receive individual and class incentives for following these expectations.
