Panther Post
November 13th - November 18th
Hello Lopez Families,
Panther Challenge is well on it's way to our fundraising goals, but we still have a long way to go. The purpose of changing how we do our fundraising this year, was to make sure as much of your donation dollar as possible goes to something that benefits the students. This can be more benches outside or bike racks, but also can be for more technology in the classroom or other learning materials above and beyond what we already provide to enrich the students' overall middle school experience. When we use a fundraising company, we pay a hefty percentage, since they do a lot of the work for us. This year we are trying to use volunteers and staff, and completely cut out percentage fees. I know of one school in town that raised over $22,000 doing this type of fundraiser and it was almost entirely profit to be used for the students. We are well short of that but it is still early. If we are able to get close, we will not have to go back to using a service which can cost up to 60% for the funds we raise.
We would love for every student to purchase a Panther Challenge Shirt and help our goal, but it would really help to have family or company sponsors. We have now made that process easier by having an online payment option. Once there, you will see the different donation level options. Please follow the link below to help us go above and beyond for the Lopez students!

Last week I was fortunate enough to attend the fall play, Peter Pan. It was an incredible show and really a top notch production from all of the actors and crew. Thank you Mrs. Eanes for all of your hard work with the kids.
In case you missed it, we had an outstanding Veterans Day assembly that I hope showed our gratitude for the military veterans and current soldiers, as well as their families. It is always one of the highlights of my year to see and be a part of it all. All of our amazing groups performed and Jenna Small sang our National Anthem. She sounded like she could be a pop star on the radio right now. Yes, she is that good! Thank you all.
Have a wonderful week!
Sincerely,
Mr. Wernli

Habit 5 - Seek First to Understand, Then to Be Understood means that it is better to listen first and talk second. This is the paradigm of listening. By taking the time to listen to another person, you are showing the person you care and respect them. As a family you can practice good listening skills and responses “So, as I see it…..” “I can see that you’re feeling….” “So, what you’re saying is
