Counselor Connection
4/1/2022
Parents of Juniors
EHS Counselors will visit 11th grade students during their English class for an hour long presentation on Wednesday, April 6th. We will share some helpful information and timelines for spring, summer, fall college and career planning. Students will use Naviance Student and other technology related to post-secondary planning. This lesson is part of the District 196 MyPlan comprehensive counseling curriculum; each student’s high school academic, career, personal/social post-secondary plan. This is a great opportunity for you (as parents) to discuss your son or daughter’s future planning.

Senior Retreat
On May 19th (Thursday) we will be taking the first 200 seniors who sign up to the Rosemount Community Center for the Senior “Wisdom” Retreat. The Wisdom Retreat is presented by Youth Frontiers and is designed for seniors to reflect, laugh, and share experiences that enable them to say goodbye to each other. This day inspires students to bring positive closure to their last days together as a class and to show appreciation to those who have supported them throughout these years.
If students are interested in attending, please sign up using MyPayments Plus. Cost is $25. Scholarships are available - message your counselor to request one!
Students will not want to miss out on this fun day!
T3 Grade/Pass Option Deadline:
Grade/Pass Option agreements are due via online registration by Tuesday, May 3rd. Students may take up to 1 class per trimester on a Grade/Pass Option basis. This option allows students to explore their interests in challenging subjects without the risk of negatively impacting their grade point average. The decision to take the grade or the pass is ultimately made at the end of the trimester. Filling out the form does not require the student to take the Pass.
More information and the online registration can be found HERE
Peer Tutors Needed for Trimester 3!

Discussing important “adulting” topics is essential for you and your college-bound student. The pre-college conversations below are suggested prompts to initiate discussions with your child, not parental lectures. These resulting conversations enable parents to share their opinions, provide guidance, discuss expectations, and communicate their support of their teen’s ability to thrive in the transition ahead. They also offer college-bound students the opportunity to share their ideas, concerns, and expectations before they begin handling many of these issues on their own. Here are 10 topics they should talk to their children about.
