Winter Storm Brings Wonder and Woes!
As children return to school next week please make sure they have sufficient warm weather clothing. In order to be out in the snow-children need warm gloves/mittens, boots, snow pants, a hat, and a winter jacket. Please label your children's clothes! We want to minimize lost or mistaken items. Children also need sneakers or shoes to change into for being inside. Thank you.
It's time to turn in your family literacy challenge forms!

Athol Savings Bank, Save$um School Banking Program
The Save$um Banking Program is an inter-active, hands-on-educational program designed specifically to educate children on the importance of saving money, being self-disciplined, and knowing the self-satisfaction in watching their money grow. Pauline Tatro, Branch Supervisor of the Main Office of Athol Savings Bank, supervises the school program with the assistance of parent volunteers. Parent volunteers assist the bank staff in overseeing the banking day session and helping to facilitate the educational process of the program.
Students at the school completed job applications for student teller positions. They were interviewed and selected by Athol Savings Bank personnel. On banking day, the student tellers, working in pairs, count the money in the deposits and record the transactions. Chosen to be student tellers are Kyle B., Lucas G., Briana, and Sarah.
The purpose of the Save$um Banking Program is to teach the students the importance of systematic savings. As an incentive to encourage the students to save, Athol Savings Bank donates $2 to every student account opened and an additional $5 after 25 deposits are made. At the end of each school year the student tellers attend a fantastic field trip sponsored by Athol Savings Bank. Over the years the students have visited places like Patriot’s Place and Fenway Park.

Elementary Guidance in Action and School Expectations of Respect
- respect for self
- respect for others, and
- respect for property
Children benefit when their families reinforce and remind them of these expectations of respect as well. Attached please find our all school teaching matrix and what that looks like across school environments. We ask that families have conversations at home about respectful behavior. Thank you for your support.
