Caughman Road Elementary School
Destiny Discover
electronic books.
Students now have quick access to our school library collection through the Destiny Discover app that was recently released to all district laptops. Students can sign in with their student number as the username and their date of birth in six digits (mmddyy) as the password. E-books can be downloaded and read at home.
Overdrive
Another new addition to our devices is the Overdrive app. This app allows you to access and download the Richland Library collection of e-books for reading offline. Students can use their new library cards to access their accounts.
If you don't see the new icons try restarting the laptop and logging back in.
Reading with the Gamecocks
Computer Science Education Week
For younger students or for a quick introduction, you can try the Angry Birds maze game—it’s very easy and helps kids understand basic computer concepts using the drag and drop Blockly language.

For Minecraft lovers try the Minecraft designer: https://studio.code.org/s/minecraft/stage/1/puzzle/1
For optimal learning, encourage students to work in pairs to think through the programming process.
Tech Tip
All students should be shutting down their laptops each day after use (not just putting the device to sleep). Shutting down and restarting allows for software updates and corrects many minor connection issues.
