Pennies for Patients
Central Bucks School District is partnering with The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society to fundraise to support sick children in our community. Gayman Elementary will participate in a week-long fundraiser from Monday, January 13th – Friday, January 17th. Throughout the week, students are encouraged to bring coins or bills to school to support this cause. Please focus on family and close friends for donations.
To support this effort, Gayman’s Student Council is supporting a Spirit Week. Please see the chart below for the special dress-up and collection days scheduled.
New this year: Gayman's Student Council will add on "Chuck Your Change Friday." This special event will occur, Friday, January 17th during morning arrival. Student Council members will stand by the car rider line, bus drop off, walker entrance, and the before school doors with collection cans. Everyone is welcome to participate!
Thank you for your generosity!
Kids Care Club
Kids Care Club and the MLK committee are teaming up this January to bring you a special MLK Volunteer event!
We will be doing 2 projects in honor of this special day! First, we will be making Jared Boxes for children at St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children in Philadelphia. A Jared Box is a plastic storage box filled with small gifts used to create a diversion for young patients in the hospital as they receive chemotherapy and other medical treatments. Second, we will be assembling snack bags for the Bucks County Housing Group. The snack bags provide a weeks worth of snacks for kids.
There is a donation bin outside the old main office entrance. For items to fill the Jared Boxes you can look at the suggested toy list at www.thejaredbox.com. To register your child for this special service event, CLICK HERE.
Thank you for supporting those in need!
Boomerang Youth Recognition Award - Equality and Justice
The Boomerang Youth Recognition Award is a district-wide monthly program which recognizes and honors youth in our community for exemplifying one of the chosen Developmental Assets for the school year. The month of January is Asset #27: Equality and Justice – young person places high value on promoting equality and reducing hunger and poverty.
Nomination forms can be found online HERE. Please email to Miss Meier at emeier@cbsd.org or send to school in an envelope to Miss Meier. Nomination forms are due by Monday, January 27.
Understanding the IEP
We invite you to join us for an informational presentation entitled, “Understanding the IEP,” presented by our Special Education Department. In this 30-minute session, you will receive an overview of the major parts of the IEP (individualized education program) and learn how each section is used by school team members. This is open to all parents and guardians.
Although this presentation is not student-specific, parents/guardians of students with IEPs are encouraged to bring a copy of their child’s IEP to page through during the presentation.
We hope to see you there!
Sincerely,
Allison Kuchler
Director of Special Education
