A Word From Principal Haynes
Greetings Parents,
Happy Holidays to all of our families! This is the last week before the Winter Break! I have been doing some fun activities with staff and the kids asked "why can't they participate?" So this week, they have an opportunity to join in on the fun as a part of our Holiday Spirit Week, an idea put in place by the 3rd Grade Team, led by Ms. Smith. Details for each day are listed in the graphic below! Please have your child join the fun. If they are not participating, they need to wear their school uniform. This is not a time for students to wear whatever they want. They have to adhere to the theme for each day. ALL STUDENTS FROM PK TO 5TH GRADE CAN PARTICIPATE!
Parents, I need your help in talking to your child about bringing any inappropriate items to school at any time, for any reason. Objects from home like kitchen knives (metal and plastic), switchblades, pocket knives, pointed scissors, and anything along that line are prohibited from school campuses. Students are encouraged that if they SEE SOMETHING, SAY SOMETHING! Even if they HEAR it, they should report it and let us look into it. Tell them they need to say something BEFORE they leave school. I cannot stress the importance of this! We need your support!!
Now is a good time to have your child look for lost sweaters/lunchboxes. We will put what we have on the stage in the cafeteria. If they are not claimed by December 17th, we will have to donate them to an organization. We discuss being responsible daily on the morning announcements. Please encourage them to be responsible as well.
As 2021 comes to a close, I want to take an opportunity, on behalf of the Village, to wish you and yours a safe and wonderful holiday break. We look forward to seeing everyone in the new year!!
Please pay close attention to the information in the newsletter and visit our school website for the most up to date information!
Here are some ways you can support learning at home:
- Have your child go on iReady nightly (math one day, reading the next day)
- Have your child READ every night or practice recognizing letters/sight words
- Have your child TALK to you about what they read so you can see if they understand it
- Have your child practice their math facts (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division)
- Have your child practice WRITING, both handwriting and writing information
- TALK to them about what they are doing in school
There is a LOT of information in this newsletter, but PLEASE read it thoroughly!!
Wishing you an AMAZING and BLESSED week ahead!!

Thought for the Week
HEADPHONES FOR STUDENTS!!
If you have not purchased headphones for your child, PLEASE do so ASAP. In order for the children to work on iReady and other computer programs, they NEED headphones! You should purchase a good, steady pair that could last all year. Ear buds are not good for using at school, students need the kind that fits over their ears. Place the headphones in the ziploc bag to REMAIN at school so they don't get damaged.
Identification badges
All of our employees and students are required to wear identification badges at all times while on campus. When visitors are on campus, they are also required to wear some form of identification.
Students will get their ID badges after picture day on September 10th. Lost ID badges will be replaced three (3) times at no cost to the parent. After that, a replacement ID badge will cost $3. It will be the parent's responsibility to pay the fee to replace the badge.
Student Uniforms
Village Elementary is a mandatory unified dress code school. It is expected that all students are in uniform, Monday through Friday with the exception of designated school spirit days which will be announced ahead of time. The student dress code guidelines outlined in the Code of Student Conduct will be enforced.
