6th Grade Band:
The students have been working through their books and are making AMAZING progress. There are times when we get to go back and students can pick lines out of the book that we have played in the past and playing them again, and they absolutely love and are amazed at the progress they have made.
Students should be practicing at home as much as possible. We are going to start preparing for our Winter Concert which will take place on Tuesday, December 19. The concert will be split into two parts and more information will come out as it becomes available as far as times are concerned.
The dress for the December concert is the same at it was for the concert last week. Concert black and white. Please make arrangements so your child has clothes that meet the expected dress. If you have any problems getting these clothes please feel free to get in contact with me and I will help you!
Practice for this weekend:
#38, 58, 57, 78, 79, 84-91
7th Grade Band:
The students have began preparation on the music for the December concert. There are things that we can still work on as a group and I think a quick conversation at home from parents about talking in class would be beneficial!
I am enjoying getting to work with this group and we are starting to think about solos for Central Methodist University Music Festival. I am going to give them the music and they are to be able to play me their solo before Christmas break, if they cannot at least play through it they will not be allowed to attend the festival. Scheduled time with me for rehearsal will be given next week.
Homework for this weekend:
Bb scale and Little Drummer Boy
8th Grade Band:
Get ready for chair auditions kiddos!! I am super excited to see what the next concert has in store for us and we need to hit the ground running.

HORNET SINGERS:
WOW! This group has made remarkable progress since our October concert! The improved focus during rehearsal is really paying off!
Students will have the option to sign up to do solos and small ensembles at our Spring music contest. Each interested student will receive their solo/small ensemble music before Winter Break. This will give us extra time to prepare for contest!
Practice recordings AND accompaniment tracks have been posted to our Google Classroom. These allow students to work independently on their concert repertoire anywhere they have internet!
If your student does not have a choir polo shirt, they may be purchased from Dr. Moebes for $13 for sizes S-XL. XXL available for $15. The fee may be paid in full, or in smaller payments as needed.
HORNET PRIDE:
Nice work this week! We have had a few days of sectional rehearsals. This allows students to identify the portions of our repertoire that are tricky for them, and to rehearse independently and in small groups!

Mr. Chapman
It’s been a creatively busy week here at FMS!
Students have been wrapping up on projects and jumping into new ones across the board. Even non Art students have been getting in on the kindness mission, and have had a lot of great kindness posters created and put up throughout the building.
6th Grade are working in watercolor, and discovering techniques through drawing and paining fruit panels.
7th Grade is learning about balance and positive and negative space in Art by creating Japanese Notan Art.
8th Grade is working on what a strong composition looks like by breaking down an object into four panels, and giving me details about a subject without drawing the actual object as a whole.
I have thrown many challenges to all my grades in the last few weeks, and they have all rose to the occasion, and I could not be any more proud of them all.
As always any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact me cchapman@fulton58.org
Artfully yours,
Mr Chapman
