ACCESS for ELLs (March 28 – April 10)
To Do Next Week
- A recording of the Data Validation training is posted on the Assessment Hub and TC MS Team.
- It is important to note that one week of the GaDOE Data Validation window is during our Spring Break. Unfortunately, we are not able to adjust this window or extend it, so plan accordingly so you can complete the task.
Information
- WIDA ACCESS for ELLs Data Validation is a process that helps schools identify potential errors in student records. The process includes demographic, accommodation, and test result records. It gives districts the chance to fix potential errors before reporting student performance. It is imperative test coordinators ensure there are not any duplicate students. Duplicate students often will get two score reports WITHOUT a composite score. This can be a serious irregularity for test coordinators where students are negatively impacted.
- Data Validation directions are located in the DRC Customer service portal.
- Go to - DRC>WIDA>Customer Service>Knowledge Articles>Filter -Data Validation
Choose DRC Customer Service in the DRC Insight Portal
Type Data Utilization in the filter.

Optional End of Year Unit Assessments
Information
- For ELA and Math Georgia Milestones tested grade levels, any unit assessment(s) currently on the assessment calendar during or after Georgia Milestones testing (April 22 - May 23) will be optional.
- This does not change the grading policy requirements.
- Schools or zones that use unit assessments as grades or prefer to continue test administration through the end of the year can, of course, continue to give these assessments. This allows for additional flexibility with test administration windows, so we are not overloading our students with end of year assessments during Georgia Milestones.
- Any non-tested grades with an assessment included on the assessment calendar should continue to administer this required assessment.
- For additional guidance, please see our 2023-2024 Assessment Calendars or reach out to your Assessment Program Specialist for support.
Illuminate’s New Item Bank Support Office Hours
Information
- Did you know Illuminate’s most commonly used Legacy Item Bank is sunsetting at the end of this school year? Because we will no longer be able to create items or administer assessments from this item bank, we will be transitioning over to Illuminate’s New Item Bank (NIB)! Various school leaders will receive training around NIB at an upcoming meeting, if they have not been trained already.
- Please join the assessment team for weekly Monday office hours throughout the month of March to receive support on our district-wide move to Illuminate’s New Item Bank (NIB).
- These optional help sessions will be available every Monday in March from 7:30-8:30 a.m. and 2:30-3:30 p.m. Click these links to join and come with questions! These will not be trainings session and will be informal, drop-in times to receive support on questions.
