Habits 4, 5, 6

As we move into our interpersonal habits (Think Win-Win, Seek First to Understand and Then to be Understood and Synergize) we are exploring characteristics of effective citizenship. We are analyzing what it is and what it is not. These habits require positive interaction with others in order to be successful. A few of the activities we have embarked upon to reinforce these understandings are effective vs. ineffective (proactive vs. reactive) behavior. We have read the Sneetches by Dr. Seuss while concentrating on Win-Win, Win-Lose and Lose-Lose behavior. We have created friendship kits. We have generated a lot of thinking about what an effective citizen (leader, classmate, friend) is, does, says and is not. Lastly, we are starting to talk about the similarities and differences between the following behaviors: mean, rude, bully, and normal conflict.
