Eric Alexander Memorial Library
How the library can work for you
The Main Reading Room
Classes and tutorials welcome! Schedule times for your classes to come in for library instruction on topics such as: research skills, accessing and using the databases, using the catalog, web reliability, works cited, fair use and copyright issues and primary source documents.
The C.A.R.D. Catalog
Here you can access the Eric Alexander Memorial Library collection (reference, general, fiction, DVD, VHS, Kits and Professional materials) and the databases (through the links tab).
The catalog can be accessed both on and off campus.
The Professional Library
A space just for faculty to research, read, plan or relax. Wi-fi accessible, comfy chairs, fabulous resources and a priceless view.
Professional journals, Landmark publications, board notes and Accreditation reports available.
Resources
In addition to its regular collection, the library subscribes to periodicals, Academic Journals, The Boston Globe, and EBSCO online database collection. Additionally, faculty and students have access to the Gale database collection, ipads, eReaders, laptops, VHS/DVD/TV combo and video cameras. A projection system, speaker and laptop are available for presentations in the library.
Lesson Ideas
I can customize any lesson to fit your class or tutorial needs. Some lessons have covered Science Fair (resources, finding reliable resources), Senior Research (source & site analysis, generating a topic, structuring a research project, citations) and Banned Books (investigating why certain literature is challenged/banned) and even technology skills (setting up/accessing Gmail, Google drive, creating folders, managing documents). If you can't make it to the library, I can gladly come to your class or tutorial space.
