Causes of Disorder
The cause is a mutation in the HEXA gene.
Description
tay-sachs disease is a rare inherited disorder in a recessive allele that destroys nerve cells. the symptoms of this disorder are muscle loss, speech problems, and mental illness. It is passed on from parent to offspring.
Long Term Effects
Tay-sachs usually begins in infancy(by 6 months old!).
Treatments
There is no known treatment for Tay-sachs only ways to make the person feel more comfortable.
