RO Newsflash

This morning Mr. Aries led a presentation to all 5th graders about digital citizenship. We educated our students about the risks of sharing personal information online as well as
the risks of cyber-bullying. Please talk to your child about being safe with social media.
We used the term "digital footprint" - how are you viewed online?
What traces do you leave and what does that say about who you are?
REMINDER: Grade 5 Trivia Night: Friday, January 10th
While you’ve spent time unifying your family over the holidays, now it is parents vs. kids
in a battle of trivia excellence. It is time to see if our 5th graders retained their knowledge during their 2-week break and to see what parents remember as well.
On January 10, 2020 we will have our 5th grade class event from 6:30-8:00pm.
Pizza, cookies and prizes will be given. We would like to have the 5th graders create
their team of 4-6 kids for the Student Team with 1 adult per student as the Parent Team.
Please sign up your team with a team name and team members by January 3rd using the

All 4th graders are visiting the JFK Museum as part of their study of the civil rights movement. Here is writing from the Murphy/Kerner team sharing what they have learned about the more significant events of this time period. Outstanding work displayed proudly!
Equity Series - Speaker, Jimmy Casas: Wednesday, 1/15
Ability Days: Tuesday, 1/21 & Thursday, 1/23
We are pleased to announce our Grade 4 Ability Awareness Days on Tuesday, January 21st and Thursday, January 23rd!
Ability Awareness Days will teach awareness, empathy, acceptance and inclusion for all students. We will feature activities on the following: Vision Impairment, Hearing Impairment, Learning Disorders, Physical Disabilities and Social and Emotional Disorders. All activities are timed and students will rotate throughout the room from one activity to the next. Please take a look at the pictures below for some examples of what students will see.
Last year's program was a big success with so many awesome volunteers providing hands-on support at each station. If you can spare some time to help on either of these days, please see the link below. You do not need to have prior experience to participate! If this is your first time volunteering you will be paired with a volunteer from last year.
We need volunteers and would love to see as many as possible participate in our event.

Fourth graders made Kachina Dolls as a way to blend art into their study of the southwest region.
Student Activity Fee: Overdue Reminder!
In order to help defray/cover the costs of transportation and entrance fees for our NRT Sheep Pasture Program and the YMCA Swimwise Program (Grade 2 only), the Easton Public School system collects activity fees. The fee for Grades 1-6 is $45.00 and was due October 15th. Please pay this fee as soon as possible.
All elementary student activity fees must be completed online through MySchoolBucks. There are no service fees associated with paying online through MySchoolBucks. Please click on the following link to make your payment: https://www.myschoolbucks.com.
Your activity fee makes outdoor learning within the beautiful outdoor conservation areas of Easton possible for every student at RO. Below are pictures from one fourth grade classroom's trip to Sheep Pasture today. These students are learning about their environment in powerful and meaningful ways. This partnership with NRT is unique to our town and it is awesome to see our students learning in the natural world, right in their own backyard. Thank you for your support!
