Make Sure Your Contact Information Is Updated!
Now more than ever, it is important for campuses to stay in touch with parents and guardians for immediate notification of student illness or to conduct contact tracing related to a positive COVID-19 test result.
Please review these steps to make sure we have accurate and reliable contact information for students and families.
- Get instructions on HOW to update your contact information by visiting the Plano ISD website.
- Let us know WHOM to contact. Please include multiple contact persons, providing current phone numbers and email addresses to be sure we can quickly notify you or a designee in case of an emergency or medical concern involving your child.
- For more information on how student illness will be handled on campus, please WATCH our “Stay Safe, Be Health Smart” video.
Bell Schedule for All Students
All students, both Face-to-Face and School@Home, will engage in a hybrid schedule until further notice. Students will be divided into two cohorts based on the student’s last name. Students who selected the Face-to-Face learning environment will attend two days per week on campus (either Tuesday/Thursday or Wednesday/Friday) with their cohort. On the days they are not at school, they will participate in asynchronous learning through remote instruction. Students who selected PISD School@Home will participate in synchronous instruction two days per week (either Tuesday/Thursday or Wednesday/Friday) with their cohort. On the other school days, they will participate in asynchronous learning through remote instruction. Mondays are reserved for asynchronous instruction for all students.
Homeroom will continue synchronously for all students each Monday from 12:10-12:40 with their 4th period teacher.
Please see the student schedule by cohort below for a visual of our schedule. The bell schedules are also published at https://www.pisd.edu/Domain/1056.
Attendance Update
Whether it is an asynchronous or synchronous day of learning, attendance is taken every day for every class. In an effort to help make attendance taking more efficient for both students and teachers, Jasper HS teachers will utilize a Google Attendance Form that students must submit daily during synchronous or asynchronous learning. This will be the primary way for teachers to monitor attendance. Additionally, your student needs to login every day through WebDesk to complete daily assignments so that engagement may be tracked should there be any inconsistencies.
As a reminder, your student’s teacher has full control over his or her attendance. If for some reason your student did not attend class (during synchronous learning) or login (during asynchronous learning), he or she has until 11:59 pm of that same school day to login, complete, and submit work to the teacher. The next day, that absence will be reconciled by the teacher as they check work submitted. As such, you may receive an automated phone call in the evening communicating an absence for that day. These calls are a reminder that the student still has a chance to login and reconcile the absence through completion of the Google Attendance Form and work submission. We encourage you to allow teachers the subsequent day following an absence to reconcile it before contacting them regarding attendance errors.

One in five people in the U.S. is experiencing a mental health challenge. By knowing the five signs that may mean someone is in emotional pain, you can be a vital connection in getting them the help that they need. The five signs are:
- Personality change
- Agitation
- Withdrawal
- Poor self-care
- Hopelessness
If someone you know is experiencing one or more of these signs, reach out, connect, and offer to help.

2020 Collin County Peanut Butter Drive
Plano ISD and the Plano ISD Council of PTAs are working together to help “Spread the Hope” about the 2020 Virtual Collin County Peanut Butter Drive. Our goal is to come together as a community to aid in the fight against hunger and raise awareness about food insecurity in North Texas. The drive runs through the month of September (September 1-30). This year we are encouraging you to donate virtually on the Plano ISD Fundraising Page. There will not be any drop-off sites.
Athletic Event Overview
We are excited to begin our athletic season this week! As everything else this year, things will look a little different at athletic events. Here is a list of things you should know before you attend:
- Tickets must be purchased online for the games. You can purchase tickets when you get to the game, but you will have to do so online. Our ticket taker will simply be scanning pre-purchased tickets at the door.
- There will be a limited number of seats to each event to comply with state health guidelines and UIL established protocols. We encourage you to get tickets early to ensure you have a seat. Each type of event (football game, volleyball game etc.) has a different max number of tickets available per purchase.
- Each person attending the game will be required to complete a COVID-19 prescreening process. If a spectator responds yes to any of the pre-screening questions, they will not be granted entry.
- Visitors must wear a mask at all times unless eating. Please help us with this to keep everyone safe. No one will be allowed to enter if they do not have a facemask.
- Every other row will be designated for no seating to establish social distancing. We ask that family groups sit together and that there be six feet of separation between each family group.
- For games at our gym, no visitors will be allowed to enter the gym floor. After games, families are encouraged to meet at their car or outside. The typical visiting after the game on the court will not be allowed to keep everyone safe.
Some things will remain the same! Here are some expectations for students and families that attend athletic events:
- Our focus should be on our teams - build them up and cheer them on to victory! Please do not direct comments at the other team, players, or referees.
- Spectators are expected to keep feet off the railing at the football stadiums to prevent accidental falls. The first row of bleachers are not to be used.
- Students are expected to stay in the stands during sporting events in our gym.
