Principal's Message to Hornet Families to close out the Fall semester

Great evening fantastic families,

We are excited to return to campus January 5th but want to assure all families scholar safety is at the forefront of our minds at this point. We are aware of the uptick in cases in the Austin community and are prepared for a safe return for both students and staff. AISD has created many COVID testing and Vaccine opportunities for the city of Austin. Please read the letter linked below for more information. We encourage everyone to get boosted and tested before returning to school January 5th. We will open school as usual and continue with the COVID protocols that worked well for us and AISD during the fall semester. Each classroom has plexiglass barriers, HEPA filters, and sanitizer available for all students. We will provide more structure for our courtyard eating opportunities and continue to operate our HEPA filters in the cafeteria during lunches. We could still use more volunteers to help with lunch monitoring. If you are interested please reach out to PTA president Beth Reyburn. Please reach out to Principal Wilson directly if you have any concerns or questions. I am here to serve this community and am open to suggestions and fielding concerns. Currently, we are also anticipating continuing our fine arts and athletic programs this Spring. Boys’ basketball and Girls’ Soccer tryouts are still scheduled for this week. We look forward to creating a GREAT learning experience for our scholars this Spring despite COVID and any other barriers that await. Feel free to join us Thursday for our first PTA meeting of the Spring Semester. We will have time to discuss adjustments to AISD’s COVID response, master scheduling for next year, and many other pressing items our community may want to discuss. Thank you for choosing Kealing Middle School and Austin ISD as your scholar's primary educator.

Community Donations

Thank you for all your generous contributions to our campus! We appreciate you and all the many ways you show up for our Kealing Community. We have started a Community Donates spreadsheet in order to repurpose household items to our campus. There are two ways to contribute--1. Drop off the requested item to the front office labeled with the requesting teacher's name. 2. If you have item(s) to offer that might have a second life on our campus, please add a description to the spreadsheet. Teachers can then go in and claim the item. HERE is a link to the spreadsheet. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1IOK7cMk99UZtIQcClIWNQ8Wgc3_nBQ0tBrj7amKXLro/edit?usp=sharing
