8th Grade Weekly News
Week of September 9th-13th
General News!
Happy Monday!
It is hard to believe that we are already in our sixth full week of classes. This week we will be sending home our first Progress Reports with students on Wednesday. Hopefully you and your child have already been monitoring their progress on PowerSchool. We have been talking to students recently about their current grades. Generally speaking, those students who have averages lower than they may like, are simply the result of incomplete or un-submitted assignments. Some of these may be the result of absences. Please remember that students who have missed class, for any reason, are responsible for seeing that that work is made up as soon as possible when they return to class.
Please join us!

After School Camps were scheduled to begin last week, but "Hurricane Dorian" had other plans for us. We will begin this week. Teachers who will be participating will be sending home invitations with students. Please remember, these afternoons are for students who have received an invitation to attend. The permission form must be signed and returned in order for the student to stay. Math and Science will be meeting on Wednesday afternoons, and ELA and Social Studies will be on Thursdays. Eighth graders get picked up at the end of the 8th grade hallway in the bus loop. If they have younger siblings staying after school too, they will be asked to join us on 8th grade hall.
Zero Period is offered daily from 6:55am- 7:25am when our homeroom time begins. Students who need a little extra help in a content area, some time to complete unfinished homework or assignments, or just need a little support to help them start off their day, will find this very helpful. For this first quarter students who are interested should touch base with the following teachers: ELA-WAXMAN, Math-HOLLOWAY, Science-GOELLER, Social Studies-BENSE, FULLER and ROSARIO are also available during this time. If your child is interested, or in need, and does not have class with any of these teachers, please ask them to touch base with their content teacher so we can make arrangements to get them the help they need.
