"Open a Book & Open your Mind"

As a young child growing up on a farm in the Midwest, I found my local library to be the place where I could explore places, events, and most importantly, ideas-- all from my shared bedroom in our simple farmhouse. I want our school library to be that place for those seeking to explore!

My Explorations!

It took me 20 years to finish my Bachelor's! Beginning at a branch campus of Wright State University near my hometown in Ohio, continuing as a mother of young children at Ohio Northern University, then finally several years at New River Community College and Radford University, both in southwest Virginia. During those early years in southwest Virginia, I worked part time at a public library and realized that the combination of teaching and library would soon be my next exploration! I finished my Master's at Radford University while juggling teaching 5th grade and raising 4 teenagers. Soon our teens were young adults, and my husband and I traveled up Interstate 81 to settle in Harrisonburg where I have since continued exploring by taking additional grad classes at both JMU and EMU. Exploring and learning go hand in hand!
