Dear Hoover Families,

Greetings from Hoover! the first hints of autumn and colder weather are finally moving in! I personally like Autumn, the weather gets a bit cooler, the leaves change colors, and major holidays are just around the corner! October is also prime time for teaching as students already have gotten into a routine, they have adjusted to their classrooms and expectations and are beginning to work towards improving their grades for the upcoming conferences and report cards.

October is also "Attendance Awareness Month", during this month is truly important to ensure that all students are attending school daily and on time. Arriving on time ensures that your child doesn't miss out on the important learning activities that happen early in the day, when they are most alert and also gives your child the time to greet their friends before class and reduce the possibility of disruptions in the classroom. It is also important to be on time so students do not rush through breakfast and reduces congregation of families at the main office. Thank you for doing your best to ensure that you continue to bring your children on time!

I also wanted to thank to all parents who attended our Cafecito on October 1st, remember that we hold monthly Cafecitos the first Friday of each month from 9-10am. Cafecitos are a great way to connect with school and the happenings on campus, and it is also a great way to receive important information on a regular basis. At the last cafecito, Ms. Julia Federico Young, shared an optional program that students in middle school can sign up for, I am attaching a picture with information on a below paragraph.

Latinos and education in the National Hispanic Month

I-Ready Assessments continue! We are concluding I-Ready assessments and the school has begun to collect data for further analysis. This data will provide teachers a great view of students' strengths and needs as they determine the best ways to support all students moving forward.

Optional Weekly COVID-19 testing available at Hoover on Mondays and Wednesdays

As you may know, the school district has contracted with Bay-PLS to help out with student/staff COVID-19 Antigen Rapid testing at ALL school sites. Qualified Bay-PLS employees provide testing here every Monday and Wednesday from 10:15am to Noon. The school district will send out a Google Survey to parents who have registered with Primary Health so they can give consent. If you have not done so and wish your child to be tested, please complete the Primary Health registration form so that your child may be tested. You will only need to do this once. Office Hours

Our school office continue to serve the public from Monday through Friday from 8-4pm. Between 8-9am and 2-3pm, we receive a higher volume of calls and visitors in the office, so we thank you for your patience as we help others. if you cannot connect, please call us back, or leave a message. If you need to report an absence, pls leave a message in the main voice mail with your child's name, teacher and or classroom and grade.

¡Saludos desde Hoover! ¡Los primeros indicios de otoño y clima más frío finalmente están llegando! Personalmente, me gusta el otoño, el clima se pone un poco más fresco, las hojas cambian de color y las principales fiestas están a la vuelta de la esquina. Octubre también es el mejor momento para la enseñanza, ya que los estudiantes ya han entrado en una rutina, se han adaptado a sus aulas y expectativas y están comenzando a trabajar para mejorar sus calificaciones para las próximas conferencias y boletas de calificaciones.

Octubre también es el "Mes de la Concientización sobre la Asistencia", durante este mes es realmente importante para asegurar que todos los estudiantes asistan a la escuela todos los días y a tiempo. Llegar a tiempo asegura que su hijo no se pierda las importantes actividades de aprendizaje que ocurren temprano en el día, cuando están más alerta y también le da a su hijo tiempo para saludar a sus amigos antes de la clase y reducir la posibilidad de interrupciones en el salón de clases. También es importante llegar a tiempo para que los estudiantes no se apresuren a desayunar y reduzca la congregación de familias en la oficina principal. ¡Gracias por hacer todo lo posible para asegurarse de que continúe trayendo a sus hijos a tiempo!

También quería agradecer a todos los padres que asistieron a nuestro Cafecito el 1 de octubre, recuerden que tenemos Cafecitos mensuales el primer viernes de cada mes de 9 a 10 am. Los cafecitos son una excelente manera de conectarse con la escuela y los acontecimientos en el campus, y también es una excelente manera de recibir información importante de forma regular. En el último cafecito, la Sra. Julia Federico Young, compartió un programa opcional al que los estudiantes de secundaria pueden inscribirse, adjunto una foto con información en un párrafo inferior.

¡Continúan las evaluaciones I-Ready!

Estamos concluyendo las evaluaciones I-Ready y la escuela ha comenzado a recopilar datos para un análisis más detallado. Estos datos proporcionarán a los maestros una excelente visión de las fortalezas y necesidades de los estudiantes a medida que determinan las mejores formas de apoyar a todos los estudiantes en el futuro.

Pruebas de COVID-19 semanales opcionales disponibles en Hoover los lunes y miércoles Como sabrá, el distrito escolar ha contratado a Bay-PLS para ayudar con las pruebas rápidas de antígeno COVID-19 de los estudiantes / personal en TODAS las escuelas. Los empleados calificados de Bay-PLS realizan pruebas aquí todos los lunes y miércoles a partir de las 10:15am. La oficina de nuestra escuela continúa sirviendo al público de lunes a viernes de 8 a 4 pm.
