Challenger League
Did you know that Pinelands is a founding member of the Ocean/Monmouth Challenger League? Now in its 8th year, this league provides accessible interscholastic sports opportunities for students in our special education classes. The league is made up of schools from throughout the Shore Conference. Thank you Mr. Beaton and Pinelands Staff for your efforts in making this a success.
PRIDE Food Drive
On behalf of PRIDE and School Based Youth Services, we would like to say THANK YOU to the staff and students for their generosity for the Thanksgiving food drive. We collected over 20 baskets for local families. As always, the kindness of our staff and students is second to none!
Have a HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!
Welcome to our New Staff

Google Expeditions
On Monday, November 23rd, the PRJHS "Google team" arranged for a representative from the Google Expeditions Team to do a demonstration in the media center. The representative provided 90 smartphones with Google Cardboard as well as three teacher tablets for the Expeditions. Expeditions is an Educational App which is a Virtual Reality (VR) simulation of hundreds of expeditions around the world from Mt. Fuji to the depths of the ocean or a spacewalk on the moon. This was a sneak peak into the application, since it will not be released until sometime later this winter. The staff and students that had an opportunity to participate were amazed by the activity!

Veteran's Day Luncheon
On Friday, November 13 the Pinelands Regional National Junior Honor Society hosted its annual Veteran's Day Luncheon in the Media Center. Members of the local chapters of the VFW, American Legion and other active/veteran service people who have connection to our school community were invited to attend the event honoring their service to our country. A special thanks go out to Mrs. Constantino and all of the members of the NJHS for doing such a wonderful job honoring our Veteran's.
Also a special shout out to the JHS Choir and Mr. Strouse for their performance of various patriotic musical selections - you guys are rock stars?

Great American Smokeout
Every November, the third Thursday is set aside to encourage smokers to go the distance, and to finally give up smoking. This year members of SADD were in lunches encouraging students to take a pledge to not begin smoking or use tobacco products. A video was created by Ms. Thompson, Mrs. Petry, and our students and shown during all lunches during the Great American Smokeout

We were the only Ocean County school to participate and our students performed admirably.
After the audition process I am proud to announce that Tasbih Babar has been selected for the Junior High Choir this year in the bass section.
