Husky Happenings
September 28 - October 2
From Mr. Martin
What have I learned about remote learning? ‘You’ve gotta move to live.’ That is for teachers and students. Our staff is planning movement breaks in the learning environment. Our students need to do the same. Part of learning is making time to move. It is good for the spirits to move.
A big focus this year for me is SEL (Social Emotional Learning) as it relates to students and staff. Last Monday you were introduced to Mrs. Lindsay Day, TRMS Social Worker. During those announcements there was a message that said, "it’s OK to ask for help."
Parenting in the Digital Age--This is a previous training session offered to TRMS parents that we hope is a resource. We are planning additional parent training called ‘Keeping kids safe online’* on Oct 1, 2020 @ 7pm. This will be a zoom based meeting and here is the link.

check out in the app store are NetSanity, Net Nanny and OurPact.
Nothing is more effective than parent supervision, involvement and ongoing communication, regardless of child’s age.
Yahoo email accounts. We are seeing some parents with a yahoo email account having concerns with receiving emails. We are finding that relevant emails are going to spam. Please check spam and mark the email so it is not classified as spam.
Our district has extended ‘forced remote’ through Oct 30, 2020. A USD 231 email was sent out September 24, 2020.
Consistent with the gating criteria released earlier (https://www.jocogov.org/school-reopening-criteria), Johnson County remains in the “Red”. Based on the recommendations provided by JCHE, this means that our elementary students will remain in-person and middle and high school students will continue to attend remotely, through at least October 30, 2020. Sports updates can be accessed in our Frequently Asked Questions document, found HERE.

National Family Day September 28, 2020
Dear Parent/Guardians,
National Family Day is coming on Monday, September 28. Family Day celebrates simple, everyday things parents do to connect with their kids. Family time may look a little different right now, but it’s no less important for your children’s long-term health.
The simple, little things you do with your kids make a big difference. The earlier you start connecting with your kids, the better. Having intentional time together creates strong, healthy relationships that can prevent future drug use and provide protective factors for mental health.
We’ve pulled together a lot of creative ideas for how you can spend quality time together this year that you can find at https://jocogov.org/deptpage/mental-health/family-day-resources. Whether it’s an intentional meal together, an outing or an activity, it’s our hope that you will join us in celebrating Family Day on September 28 and every day.
Every family is unique. Show us how your family spends time together by posting a photo or video on social media using #MyFamilySelfie.
