Archie Connections
From Principal Gaddie's Desk - September '22
Gaddie Gab
I always have a very difficult time saying goodbye to summer. I love the heat and the life giving sunshine, the color of everything green, the fragrant flowers, and lively hummingbirds. I love the smell of steaks on a grill somewhere nearby and the sound of kids in my neighborhood laughing and playing until the sun goes down. Thank goodness for fall high school sports!! Our first home volleyball game was Tuesday 8-30, and our first home football game is Thursday 9-1! I can't wait to hear the band play and cheer on our teams! It makes the transition from summer to fall a whole lot easier and a whole lot of fun! I look forward to seeing you at the games.
Please take a peek at the upcoming events below. Schools are required to move one scheduled Friday night football game due to a state wide referee shortage. We moved our September 2nd game to Thursday, September 1st. Homecoming is September 16th.
THANK YOU!
Mission Moment
This month, in staying true to our mission of "providing for the development of moral values, assuring equal opportunity, and developing the skills of citizenship," we welcome First Call into our building. They will be providing our Middle School students with ongoing information and education that will assist students in making positive, healthy choices and reaching their goals in life. Sessions focus on education and skill-building as it relates to avoiding alcohol, tobacco and other drug use, family systems, anger management, and communication. We are excited to be providing our students with the tools necessary to help them effectively navigate their challenging middle school years with confidence and success! MS parents, watch your email for more information.

Fun Fact
"Blue light suppresses the body’s release of melatonin8, a hormone that makes us feel drowsy. While this may be helpful during the day, it becomes unhelpful at night when we’re trying to sleep. Being exposed to blue light in the evening can trick our brain into thinking it’s still daytime, disrupting circadian rhythms and leaving us feeling alert instead of tired." https://www.sleepfoundation.org/bedroom-environment/blue-light
According to Harvard Health Publishing, we should "avoid looking at bright screens beginning two to three hours before bed." https://www.health.harvard.edu/staying-healthy/blue-light-has-a-dark-side
Sleep well, Archie. Your health depends on it!
