Principal's Update:

Shifting Protocols on Quarantining

On January 12, 2022, the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) made a significant revision to their guidance and recommendations for students who are exposed to someone with COVID-19 in school settings. The CDPH now recommends a Group-Tracing Approach to students exposed to COVID-19. The San Diego County COVID-19 Decision Trees for K-12 Schools have been updated to reflect these new recommendations. The CDPH has outlined in their guidance that the rationale for this significant change is due to careful review over the past year of how best to respond to the pandemic while maximizing student access to in-person learning. This approach aligns to our district belief that we have a dual obligation to keep students and staff safe while, at the same time, provide access to high quality, in-person learning experiences for all students.Vista Unified School District will be modifying all protocols and procedures related to student exposure to COVID-19 to align to the new CDPH guidance and recommendations, starting on Tuesday, January 18, 2022. Specifically, all Vista Unified schools will be implementing the Group-Tracing Approach for students. This means that when students are exposed to a COVID-19 positive person in a school setting, Vista Unified will notify parents in writing of the exposure; however, all students may remain in school unless they are experiencing symptoms or have tested positive. Only students who have symptoms or test positive must be isolated at home. In keeping with the revised San Diego County COVID-19 Decision Trees for K-12 Schools and as a condition to remain in school, parents are required to have their student tested with at least one diagnostic test obtained within three to five days of exposure and inform the school of a positive result. Students who are currently in quarantine (individual or a classroom that has pivoted) but have not tested positive and do not have symptoms may return to school on Tuesday, January 18, 2022.

No School Monday January 17th

In observance of MLK Jr.'s birthday. School will resume on Tuesday January 18.

Even if you are currently not working in an arts related career we would still like to hear how the arts have impacted your life.

Please fill out the Google Form HERE.

Health & Safety Important Information:

We all need to work together to keep all of our students safe. If you or your family is under quarantine orders through the county, please STAY HOME and do not come into a school office to advise your child is absent. We will return your call as soon as possible.

We will continue to ensure that safety is a top priority at Vista Academy. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to us.

COVID-19 Notification Process Update:

We will no longer be notifying the entire school with COVID notification letters and phone messages. Only classes with direct exposure or close contacts to a COVID positive will be notified. We will provide a weekly update on the number of new cases each week in this update in the health and safety section. For this past week we had 7 COVID-19 cases impacting our campus this week and 2 positive wastewater samples.

Please refer to Dr. Doyle’s latest community update and daily updates on districtwide COVID cases will be listed by school on the COVID dashboard.

UCSD Study at VAPA - FREE Covid Testing for Students and Staff

Only students whose parents provide consent will be included in the Covid testing. The test is non-invasive, and will be an added benefit for our students as we enter the cold and flu season. With your help, UCSD hopes to develop an anonymous, low cost Covid monitoring system that can be used at schools and child cares across San Diego County.

Opt-in Parent Consent Form

Please help us make this program effective by giving consent for your child to be tested for COVID-19. Students will only be tested if there is a positive waste water sample or COVID detected on a surface in the classroom.
