PRINCIPAL'S CORNER
Conferences are coming up quickly. Be sure you sign up for a time to visit with your child's teacher. We are a team in your child's education and these meetings are very important to us and we can't wait to talk with you about your child.
Please be sure you read notes that come home. We try very hard to only send things home on Thursdays but sometimes we can't avoid sending a note home a different day. Try to make it a habit and part of your nightly routine to check backpacks and folders for notes and homework. We truly appreciate it.
REMINDERS:
Parking -- Please do not park along the curb near the front of the building any time you need to come into school. This is for everyone's safety. Use the parking spots in either lot when you need to come into the building. Thanks for helping us all stay safe.
Please contact me with any questions or concerns you have about your child or school.
Mrs. Michalski
WHAT'S HAPPENING AT ABRAMS?
Notes from the Office
Grandparent’s Day Reminders:
Grandparents day is Friday, October 4th, each grade will have a specific time set up for classroom visit, lunch and recess. Grandparents should wait in the lobby until they are escorted down to the classroom. If a grandparent is taking your child early from school, please send a note. If there is not a note, we will have to call to verify that this is what your wishes are. We do have a full day of learning planned so students don't need to leave early.
A Scholastic Book Fair Chairperson will be in the lobby selling gift certificates to use at the Book Fair on October 22nd. Certificates can be purchased by check or cash only made out to the Abrams CPTO. Your grandchild will be thrilled with your gift of a certificate to be used to purchase a book!
Parent Teacher Conferences:
Conferences will be held on Tuesday, October 22nd from 1:15-7:00 pm. Conferences will be scheduled online through Skyward/Family Access on October 7th. Time slots fill up fast so please don't wait to sign up. If you do not have a computer or internet access, please contact the school office and we can schedule a time for you. Also, there will be no 4k classes ( A.M. or P.M.) on October 22nd, so that we can schedule 4K conferences throught the entire day.
Picture Retake Day:
Picture retake day is October 16. If you would like to have your child's photo retaken you may do so but there is a $5.00 charge unless the student was absent. BOX TOPS PROGRAM ANNOUNCEMENT:
For years our school has been able to raise thousands of dollars by clipping BOX TOPS for Education.
BOX TOPS are going digital! You can now download the new BOX TOPS APP, scan your receipt and the BOX TOPS money will be added directly to our school’s account. If you still have traditional BOX TOPS clips at home, make sure to send them to school. We still earn cash for all clipped BOX TOPS until they expire. For our Fall Collection, please send all clipped BOX TOPS to school by Thursday Oct. 24th. Our goal is to raise $1,000 this year. We have fun prizes for the kids as we reach smaller goals. So far we have raised almost $50 just from people who have downloaded the new APP! Thank you for your support of the BOX TOPS program.

FREE Flu Shots and Flu Mist at School!
Oconto County Public Health will visit Abrams Elementary School on Monday, October 14 to offer FREE flu shots and flu mist to all students in Early Childhood (EC)-5th grade.
If your child did not bring the consent forms home for the FREE flu vaccines, go to www.ocph.info to download a form and find more information.
CDC recommends a flu shot for everyone 6 months and older. Flu is not just a bad cold; it’s a serious illness that can lead to pneumonia and other complications. The symptoms can last for up to two weeks and include: fever, cough, sore throat, headache, severe body aches, chills, runny or stuffy nose, extreme exhaustion, and sometimes in children diarrhea and vomiting. While your child may be nervous to receive a vaccine at school, Oconto County Public Health staff will work together to make your child as comfortable as possible.
Getting the flu vaccine every year is your best protection against the flu! You can also stay healthy by washing your hands frequently, covering your cough and staying home when you are sick. Please call Oconto County Public Health with questions at 920-834-7000.
