Hornets' Monthly Scoop

January 2023

Welcome back from winter break

South Atlanta Hornets!

Hornets' Monthly Scoop newsletter serves as informative platform for the South Atlanta High School Library Media Center. It aims to educate all stakeholders in scholarly research, developing literacy competencies, and advocating for the necessity of a fully functioning school library.

New Media Specialist?

Hello, I'm Fran Baines, the new media specialist! Since early November, I have had the pleasure of interacting with a few patrons that have frequented the library, but am eager to do so with many more Hornets. Therefore, I welcome you all with open doors and arms to come and partake of the new library vibe (suggestions are definitely welcomed), seating arrangement, freshly dusted and cleaned bookshelves and of course our precious friends: books!! I am super-excited for this opportunity because it is my first library position in a k-12 school in the states, previously I served for 3 years as the elementary school librarian for Beijing International Bilingual Academy. And 4 years before that I was the lead English Medium Teacher for my common cycle school in Abu Dhabi, where, guess what...in our spare time the international staff designed, created, and produced a community library with a wide selection of English prints for the Emirati students and community of Al Faqaa. Alas, if it is not already evident....I LOVE BOOKS and desire the same for you, looking forward to meeting you all soon!
