RtI: The Process to Excellence

Geared Toward Teachers at the Middle and Secondary Level

RtI (Response to Intervention) has taken a back seat at the middle and secondary level recently for a variety of reasons. The Southern Indiana Education Center has created a 2-day professional learning opportunity that will not only ESTABLISH a successful framework in your school, but also the strategies to ensure the success of that framework. These strategies include a successful schedule, PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports), and literacy strategies. This is designed for success!

Day One (December 11th, 2015)

  • RtI framework as it relates to middle and secondary schools: school-wide approach
  • Prevention: Literacy and PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions & Supports)
  • Dispel myths pertaining to RtI
  • Problem analysis within RtI framework
  • Scheduling possibilities to enhance and implement RtI

Day Two (January 25th, 2016)

  • Differentiated Instruction as it relate to RtI
  • Scheduling possibilities and information
  • Literacy strategies to incorporate: vocabulary, comprehension, decoding, listening, speaking, and writing
  • PBIS strategies and main ideas to engage students and assist with student behavior and responsibility

Throughout the session days, participants will be provided time to collaborate and work with Dr. Freeman facilitating and assisting. Is your school struggling with this or do you see exciting opportunities, but don't know how to make it happen? This learning opportunity is one that has tremendous practical application and will inspire all who attend.
