Meet the BBN Crew!
Did you know that we broadcast announcements into every classroom each morning? Meet our Bell Broadcasting Network Crew, a team of fifth graders that lead us in announcements daily! They work together to create the order of items, script, and produce all filming and set up. What is even more amazing is that we broadcast LIVE - talk about the bravery that these students show daily! The Crew shares daily weather, the lunch menu, special event announcements, and introduces specials guests and leads us in the pledges. They never sign-off without wishing the entire school a great day! This team has brought life into our announcements, and we are so proud of them.
Attention 4th Graders! Information will be coming in the next few months about you joining our BBN Crew. If you have interest in training with our fifth graders in preparation for you to be a BBN Crew Member next year, be on the lookout! Mrs. Morrison (counselor) and Mrs. Russell (librarian) will be getting information to you soon!
Bell Leadership Academy
Fifth grade boys in the Bell Leadership Academy are working together to discover what being a leader is all about. Along with our male staff, students learn about how leadership takes respect of others, hard work, and requires integrity, honesty, and responsibility. Students learn how to overcome obstacles and strive for their dreams. Special speakers join the academy at their after school meetings to talk about leadership. The boys have already experienced wonderful guest speakers, including Chris Brennan (former UFC/PRIDE champion, jiujitsu world champion, and owner of Next Generation Gym), Gary Kyle (country musician, producer, and songwriter), and Guy Earle (former NFL player for Washington Redskins and Houston Oilers). They have many more to come as they close the school year out! The goal is to grow the academy next year to allow for other grade levels to join as well. We are excited to see it begin to expand!
Thank you to our wonderful mentors for making a difference in the lives of our students - Mr. Kane (3rd grade teacher), Mr. Green (3rd grade teacher), Mr. Johnston (kinder teacher), Mr. Wilcox (PE teacher), and Mr. Bloedel (5th grade teacher)! We appreciate you!
Kindness
True character is how you behave when you think no one is looking. What great things can we do when we are expecting nothing in return?
This month we are focusing on the character trait of kindness with our students. Each day on announcements we talk about how we can show kindness in the simplest of ways. We have recently been talking about how kind acts have a ripple effect, and we may not even know how far our kindness travels. Thank you in advance for continuing those conversations at home! What random acts of kindness can you show as a family?
Some of the quotes we use to help spring conversation include:
"The smallest act of kindness is worth more than the grandest intention." - Oscar Wilde
"Kind words can be short and easy to speak, but their echoes are truly endless." - Mother Teresa
"A single act of kindness throws out roots in all directions, and the roots spring up and make new trees." - Amelia Earhart
"I have this theory that if one person can go out of their way to show compassion, then it will start a chain reaction of the same. People will never know how far a little kindness can go." - Rachel Joy Scott
Book Fair Is Now Open - Bell Library - See you There!

Yearbook is underway and we want everyone involved! In the picture above, you will find information on an app that you can use from your phone to send us as many photos as you want to. Download the app and simply submit photos taken at school events. All of your candid photos from around the school and in the classroom will help make our first yearbook a huge success!
Yearbooks are now on sale! Go to Balfour.com, type in our school name, and you may purchase on-line using a credit or debit card! So easy! Yearbooks will be delivered in May.
The yearbook committee is also offering dedications to be included in the yearbook. There are two sizes available, which can be designed online at Balfour.com. These will be offered as first come, first served for a limited time. For any questions, please contact Bellyearbook1617@gmail.com!
