National Assessment of Educational Progress

SH Intermediate was chosen and will participate in the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) on January 31, 2019. NAEP is the largest nationally representative and continuing assessment of what students know and can do in various subjects. NAEP is administered by the National Center for Education Statistics, within the U.S. Department of Education. NAEP is different from our state assessments because it is a common measure of achievement across the country. The results are released as The Nation’s Report Card, which provides information about student achievement to educators, parents, policymakers, and the public. The campus will NOT receive any individual reports. 50 of our 4th grade students were selected to participate.

If your child was chosen, you should have already been notified by our campus. There is no need to study in preparation for NAEP, but please encourage your child to do his or her best. A brochure that explains what participation in NAEP means for you and your child is available at Contact Caroline Cole, counselor at 903-323-7701 or at if you have any questions.

We are excited that our school is participating in NAEP. We know that SH Intermediate’s students will show what our nation’s students know and can do.

Kids Heart Challenge

Kid Heart Challenge (formally - Jump Rope For Heart)

By participating in the Kids Heart Challenge, your child will help save lives, learn about heart health and earn fun HEart HEros gifts. The American Heart Association has worked with schools to help students learn heart-healthy habits for more than 40 years. Get healthy! Get involved! Let's get started!

Coach Puerifoy will be sharing more information about this upcoming event soon. Spring Hill Intermediate raised a record amount of money last year to donate to this organization. The event will kick-off on January 23rd. If we reach our goal, Coach Puerifoy has agreed to be Duck-taped to the wall!

New and Used Shoe Drive

Big picture

All campuses will be collecting new and used shoes to donate to someone in need and earn money for our school's ArtRageous Organization at the same time. The Shoe Drive will run from January 22nd - April 5th

Thank you ArtRageous for making it possible for our students to experience a wide variety of experiences outside of school.

Box Tops for Education

Our school is participating in the Box Top for Education Program. Please send Box Tops with your child to school. A collection bin is located outside of the library door. For every 50 Box Top collected, SHI receives $5.00. Our goal is for each of our 500 students to bring 50 or more Box Tops by May. This would benefit our campus by earning approximately $2500.00!
