How It Is Used: The data is largely used externally. The State uses the data as a measure of the school's overall success. Internally we look at the data to see growth among groups of students and ensure our curriculum is aligned with state standards. Parents and students receive a report from the state at the end of the summer following taking the PSSA, detailing the student's scores.
Who Takes It: Students in grades 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 take the English Language Arts and Mathematics tests. These tests will be given over three days in the 2015-2016 school year. Keystone Testing Dates
How It Is Used: The data is largely used externally. The State uses the data as a measure of the school's overall success. Internally we look at the data to see growth among groups of students and ensure our curriculum is aligned with state standards. Parents and students receive a report from the State following taking the Keystone, detailing the student's scores.
Who Takes It: Students take the tests upon completion of the tested courses. The tests are each made up of 2 modules, and take about four hours to complete. If students do not score proficient, the State requires that they take a remediation course and retest during the next wave. Students then have the option to continue remediation and retaking the test, or they can elect to take a project-based assessment. Either successful completion of the testing or successful completion of the project is required in order to graduate.
