Knight Times
December 1, 2021
Para los padres que hablan Español
Dear Knights & Families,
I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday. As we begin the month of December, I want to wish you all a wonderful holiday season. I remember starting 2021 feeling so hopeful that everything related to the pandemic would be behind us, but it has been a year full of many challenges nonetheless. Yet we have a great deal to be grateful for. The majority of our staff and students have remained healthy. All students who are comfortable doing so are attending in person. Buckingham is a special place where it truly feels like family. We also have a great deal to look forward to as we look toward the new year.
The last day of our semester is December 17 which will be followed by our two week winter break. We will have a unique bell schedule during the last three days of the semester for final exams. School will be released at 12:43 each day and lunch will be served after school. Schedules for the 2nd semester will be passed out during the first day of final exams. Although the grading periods ends with finals, report cards are not sent out until the Friday, January 7 after we return from winter break.
Students should take full advantage of the various supports offered at Buckingham including the following:
- Signing up for choice based KEEP with teachers offering support on Wednedays and Thursdays
- Asking for a pass to go to a class where support is needed during rotating KEEP on Mondays and Tuesdays.
- Coach's Corner after school on Wednesdays in room 8 from 3:45-5:00
- Upward Bound Tutoring from 3:30-5:30 on Mondays in room 4
- Integrated Math 1 & 2 Support from 3:45-4:30 with Ms. Belisle in room 17 on December 6, 7, 13 and 14.
Thank you for taking the time to read the Knight Times and for being a part of the Buckingham family.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Working

Parent Survey
We would like your help with completing an online survey about our school. If you have any questions about this survey, contact Laura Roberts at laurar@vacavilleusd.org.
The purpose of this survey is to obtain parent perceptions about the school.
Your participation is voluntary. It is also very important. The information you provide will help guide district and school efforts to promote safety, enhance learning supports, and improve student achievement.
This is an anonymous survey. It is designed so that no one can be identified from the data. You do not have to respond to any questions that you feel could be used to identify you. Simply skip any such questions.
All questions apply to this school only.
The results are for the use of your district. The California Department of Education and WestEd will preserve data confidentiality and refer any data requests to the district.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR ACCESSING THE SURVEY
If you have more than one child at this school, you will only need to complete one survey for this school. Please fill out just one survey about the school using your oldest child as a reference. Access the survey using the button below. See this link if you would like additional information or need support troubleshooting.
California Healthy Kids Survey
9th and 11th grade students are also being asked to take a survey. It will be administered for 11th graders during their US History class and for 9th graders during their English class on December 6-7 . The survey includes questions about alcohol, tobacco, and other drug issues, as well as questions about school safety and the learning environment. Student participation in the survey is voluntary. We hope that you will encourage your child to participate so that his or her opinion and knowledge can be used to improve the school.
The survey is anonymous. No names or any other identifying information is connected to the answers except for the name of the school. If you do not want your child to particpate or if you have questions, please contact Laura Roberts, (707) 453-7300 or laurar@vacavilleusd.org. We also ask that parents who do not want their child to participate to complete the CHKS Withdrawal form.
If you wish to view the survey, you may do so online at www.vacavilleusd.org/eos

COVID Safety Information
Solano County Public Health has updated their guidance again on what to do when students have COVID-19 symptoms. Your child will need to quarantine at home until they complete one of the following options:
- Present an alternate diagnosis from a health care provider.
- Present a negative result from ONE laboratory-based diagnostic PCR Test or ONE negative Rapid Antigen Tests. Students will need to quarantine at home pending results.
- Complete an at-home quarantine for a period of 10 days.
If students are being sent home, we will offer a rapid antigen test at school. If negative, students can return to school when symptoms improve as long as they are fever free.
