The Tiger's Roar
Week of 10/10/2021
From The Principal's Desk: Dr. Otway
The Autumn days have just begun and just that fast we are in October. Your teachers are working on preparing their communication plans for weekly Parent-Teacher Newsletters that will begin on October 4th, along with preparing for parent conferences. We look forward to the opportunity to share even more detailed information with parents at our annual Parent/Teacher Conferences window that occurs from October 4th to November 4th. We truly encourage all of our parents to take part in this chance to speak with teachers knowing that this type of communication is always positive for our students. Once again this year, we will schedule conferences in ten-minute blocks. Further information detailing this scheduling process will be emailed to parents next week and posted on our website.
While walking throughout our campus I am able to see and hear great things going on inside and outside of the classes. I am so excited about our attendance on the rise. 1st grade exceeded expectations with a 95% attendance rate! A huge thank you to all parents who are getting our scholars to school every day and one time. Monday was a phenomenal experience for our Princeton’s Leadership Academy Hamilton Dance Workshop Ensemble. I can’t wait to see them perform in the spring. When our We had a brief 15min power outage at school on Thursday and the school kept moving on target. Our teachers raised their blinds and let the sunshine in and teaching and learning were on track. It was definitely a proud principal moment. Check out our school story on Class Dojo for pictures of both events and more!
MONTH AT A GLANCE
Celebrating Pre-K Week
Georgia’s Pre-K Program is a voluntary, free program available to all of Georgia’s four-year-olds regardless of parental income. Approximately 1.6 million Georgia students have been served by Georgia’s Pre-K since it began in 1992. The program continues to be nationally recognized for its success.
This is the 11th year of Georgia Pre-K Week! 11 years ago, funding for the state's universal Pre-K program was in jeopardy. Now, each year, the first week of October is dedicated to raising awareness of the importance and benefits of a quality Pre-K across our state by providing leaders the opportunity to engage with classrooms in their local communities.

School/Family Compacts
We need all Signature Pages that came home with the School/Family Compacts returned. The grade level that returns 100% compacts by Friday, October 15th would receive a pizza party from Ms. Simmons-Harris!!! So come on parents help your child's grade level win this pizza party.
"Thursday Papers"
Two-way communication from school to home and home to school is a priority at College Park Elementary. To foster this communication, we will begin sending home Thursday papers. Included in the Thursday papers include graded papers, informational papers, forms, and flyers. Some of the items included in the Thursday papers will need to be signed and returned the next day.
We are in the process of ordering Thursday folders for our scholars to transport the papers from school to home and home to school. Please make sure you check your scholar's bookbag every Thursday for your Thursday papers.
Please don't forget to return your scholar's empty folder (unless there are papers to be signed and return) the next day.
