Great News - Curiosity Machine!!!!
Dear Parents,
IMSA and Iridescent are partnering up to bring Curiosity Machine to the Chicago Heights area through funding from the Overdeck Foundation. Curiosity Machine is an online platform that houses ~100 design challenges across 14 different subject categories, including aerospace, biomimicry, and mechanical engineering. A design challenge is an open-ended, hands-on project that is inspired a scientist or engineer’s work. Each design challenge is accompanied by videos featuring the scientist or engineer talking about their work, modeling problem-solving strategies, and giving a child a chance to walk in their footsteps.
The "kick-off" is scheduled for Wednesday, October 12th at the Michelle Obama School.
Please note that we are the ONLY district in the United States of America that has given the opportunity to participate in this fully funded grant. It should be further noted that our district was selected because of the outstanding work of the following teachers who bring IMSA Fusion programming to our school:
Ms. Chrissy Fry
Ms. Courtney Albert
Ms. Jackie Pavlick
Ms. Rebecca Bosco

OLS Student Council Members
The student council helps shares students' ideas, interests, and concerns with teachers and school principals. They often also help raise funds for school-wide activities, including social events, community projects, helping people in need and school reform. OLS has participated in food drives, fundraisers and parties. As a matter of fact, our council has raised over $800 to support the Leukemia Foundation. Many members learn skills that were an extension of their formal education. They help the environment.
