I AM...Getting Stronger

Musical...Curious...Resilient...Athletic...Kind...Creative...These are just some of the words that describe your children who will attend Cold Spring this year. Most of all, each and every child at Cold Spring is special, and that is what we plan to celebrate this year.

Each year at Cold Spring, we pick a school wide theme around which every child, parent, and staff member can rally. This year's theme is based upon a song sung by Will I Am(from the Black Eyed Peas), along with some help from the Sesame Street Characters. If you would like to hear the song, click on this link (

The message of the song is two-fold. First, every person is unique in his or her own way, and we should celebrate this uniqueness. We all have gifts and character traits that make us special, and we should use these gifts and traits to be ourselves, rather than trying to be like others. Secondly, we should all continually work at "getting better" at whatever it is we do. Through hard work and perseverance, we can improve as individuals and reach the goals we have set for ourselves.

Throughout this year, we will be focusing upon these messages with your children in a variety of ways, both in the classroom with individual teachers, as well as in school wide settings. One way we will do this school wide is through monthly Town Hall Meetings where we will bring the entire school together to celebrate one another's uniqueness and talk about the values that are most important to us here at Cold Spring.

I encourage you to help your child discover what makes him/her unique, celebrate the fact that he/she is special, and continue to work at getting better in all he/she does. My hope is that this will be a special school year for you and your child!

A Dinosaur From the Past

Just as dinosaurs were eliminated from the Earth many years ago, we are eliminating the Wednesday Folder here at Cold Spring. We have found that so many announcements are now electronic, that we do not have a need for these folders anymore.

We will replace the Wednesday Folder with the Wednesday Weekly, an electronic newsletter that will be emailed every Wednesday to all parents who have their email address in Parent Portal. The Wednesday Weekly will contain important information about upcoming events here at school, so we encourage you to read it thoroughly each week.

If/when a need arises to send home a paper flyer, teachers will simply send this with your child in his/her backpack.
