Week at a Glance
I want to take a moment to reassure you of your child`s safety at our school and in our classrooms. In light of the tragic events today in San Bernardino at North Park Elementary, the district and our staff want you to know we are taking the utmost precautions to ensure your children not only feel safe and secure, but are in fact both safe and secure. A team from the district will be meeting this afternoon to debrief the situation and to help improve our safety practices. I love and cherish each of your students as though they were my own, and our thoughts and prayers go out to all those who were affected by this tragedy now and in the days to come. I have not spoken with any of the students about this incident, nor have I heard any of them speaking of it, if you or they are worried and need to talk to myself, or any of our staff about it or any concerns or fears that may arise, please let me know.
Thank you.

Students To and From School
Dear Parents of LCE Sixth Graders, It is hard to believe that there is a little less than two months remaining in the school year. While your children are fast becoming junior high school students, it is still necessary to provide them with guidance and supervision to ensure their safety both here at LCE and off campus. We are reaching out to you to help us make sure all students are provided with the safe environment they need while they continue to develop and mature. While students are on campus during school hours, LCE staff members are present to assist students in making good decisions and provide discipline when required. Incidents occurring at Memorial Park and other off-campus locations after school, have been brought to our attention over the last few months. Unfortunately, our school cannot provide supervision off school grounds. To prevent conflicts occurring off campus, it is our recommendation that students be picked up by a guardian or caregiver from the LCE campus rather than a public place. We also want to remind parents and students that school disciplinary action does apply while students are on their way home from school. For example, sixth graders will receive strikes for inappropriate behavior occurring after school and can even be suspended in accordance with our disciplinary plan. We ask parents to use their best judgement moving forward in regards to after school plans for their children. Discuss appropriate behavior and strategies for avoiding conflict and reaching out for help with your children. Please do not hesitate to contact your child’s teachers if you have questions or concerns. Thank you for your help in providing students with the support and care they need. Sincerely, LCE Administration and Sixth Grade Team
