Learning Plan - If needed

Pirate Families,

Yesterday, you received a district-wide e-mail regarding COVID-19. The district has developed a proactive contingency plan for continuous learning IF our school needs to be closed according to guidelines from regulatory agencies.

Continuous learning allows our students to maintain skills in a different learning environment. If possible, students will utilize a device to access meaningful virtual learning experiences and digital resources needed to engage in their learning. Middle school and high school students, because of their access to student chromebooks, will mostly engage in learning digitally. Elementary students will have options that do not require technology and will be communicated to families from the classroom teacher. We understand that not all students have access to technology or the internet, and therefore we have created alternative learning opportunities that do not require technology.

Our district leadership team is attentive to the guidelines and requirements established with government and health officials. At this time, we do not have a directive to close, however we also recognize that those determinations could happen and we want to be prepared.

As we have additional information we will let you know, but certainly wanted you to understand why your child may have additional items coming home with them tonight (such as packets, login information, notebook, etc.) These are only in case we may need them after spring break.

We appreciate your understanding and flexibility as we monitor these developments, with a focus on our safe and caring environment. Thank you for partnering with us! My wish everyone has a wonderful Spring Break.

Class Placement for 2020-2021

We are beginning to consider balanced class lists for next year. As professionals collaborate to create class lists, it is helpful to be aware of SERIOUS EXTENUATING* circumstances that might inhibit your child from being successful with his/her peers. If you have such a circumstance, please inform your child’s current classroom teacher before April 15th.

All requests will be considered, but may not be granted due to limited placement options.

When determining class lists, our focus is to create a balanced academic environment for all students. Therefore, teacher requests and requests to place students based on friendship will not be considered when placing students.

*Examples: Bullying, conflicts outside of school, students are related, social issues
