Principal's Message
Dear Families,
I know it’s been tough lately with so many changes occurring all around us and COVID-19 cases continuing to climb. With the Thanksgiving Holiday just around the corner, I hope you will be able to concentrate on those people that mean the most to you, even if you can’t be with them. Our family usually has a huge gathering of 50 - 60 people and that’s not happening. We’ll look forward to being with everyone again next year.
Keep reading for more information that will help you stay up to date and in the know, especially concerning our wonderful PTO.
Stay safe and enjoy our Thanksgiving break!
Melissa Moriarty
Principal

Attendance Check-In
Parents of students in grades K-4 must mark their student "present" on virtual days. Parents can check in their student at any time during the virtual day. This can be done through your Parent Portal on Infinite Campus. Remember to complete this Check-In process for all your students each day they are attending school virtually. Below are instructions on how to log your student in as well as an instructional video.

Failure to check your student in daily could result in attendance letters that lead to physician’s notes being required for verification and possibly being referred to an Absence Intervention Team. If you have questions regarding attendance check-in please contact the office at 614-548-1400.
Fee Reminder
Each year the district assesses a fee to all students for supplies and consumable materials. The deadline for paying fees is November 20, 2020. To make a payment, log in to your Parent Portal on Infinite Campus. You may also send a check to school with your student made payable to Pickerington Local Schools or PLSD. To ensure proper posting, please reference your student's name and student ID. If school fees are not paid, it will result in grades and transcripts being held until payment is received.
Fees for each grade level are:
Kindergarten - $19.00
First Grade - $17.00
Second Grade - $17.50
Third Grade - $22.00
Fourth Grade - $23.50
If you have questions regarding fees, please contact Pickerington Elementary at 614-548-1400 or call the Treasurer's Office at 614-833-2110.
Pickerington Elementary "Winter Wonderland"

These activities will be pay-to-participate in order to raise money for holiday assistance. All proceeds will be donated to the Violet Township Firefighters’ Toy Drive. Please see the flyers below!
Coach's Update from Mrs. Horsford
As we approach the Thanksgiving holiday, our students and teachers have been working hard and progressing in their learning. Read below for a few highlights of learning in each grade level.
Kindergarten - In math, students are learning about 2-d and 3-d shapes. In English Language Arts, they are continuing to practice rhyming letter recognition, syllables, and blending words.
1st Grade - Students are learning to analyze informational text and use that information to respond to a prompt in writing through the "Creature Feature" texts. In math, they are using different strategies to add numbers within 20.
2nd Grade - Students are learning to describe how characters in a story respond to major events and challenges through the "American West " texts. They will use these texts to respond to an informative writing prompt. In math, they are using addition and subtraction strategies to solve word problems.
3rd Grade - Opinion writing is the focus in third grade. Students are using texts from the "Outer Space" module to write paragraphs and to compare and contrast details between two texts. In math, they are using multiplication and division to solve word problems.
4th Grade - Students are going more in-depth to describe characters, settings, or events in a story or drama, drawing on specific details in the texts through their "Extreme Settings" module. In writing, they are responding to narrative prompts.
Hope this gives you a glimpse into all of the great learning here at Pickerington Elementary.
Stay safe!
Best,
Mrs. Horsford
