JTD Summer Reading 2016
Sixth Grade +
Recommendations and Resources
The research is clear that students who don't read over the summer lose many valuable reading gains that have just been achieved during the school year. But perhaps more importantly, reading is fun! Let your student read what interests them this summer. Having a choice will ensure higher engagement, motivation, and effort.
When we value all reading, we value all readers. - Donalyn Miller
Here are some ideas to start you off. I'd encourage you to look at all of the Summer Reading lists and not feel restricted to your student's particular grade level.
Be sure to take a look at the Summer Reading Bingo Board!
Happy reading!
