Health Reminder
If your child has tested positive for COVID-19, contact a PHHS nurse as soon as possible.
PHHS Nurse Line: 816 - 359 - 4114
Potential Changes to Buses
To reduce overcrowding on certain buses, First Student is making changes to some of our bus routes over winter break. Be on the lookout for an email from Transportation Coordinator Lana Dudzinski with specific information regarding your children’s routes. Even if your children’s bus number and stop are the same, it is important that you confirm pick-up time, because that could be different.
As the weather continues to get colder, we wanted to remind you about First Student’s bus app, FirstView. FirstView allows you to track your child’s bus and can help you plan when to send your child to their stop. Follow these directions to set up the app and to get your access code.
COVID-19 Updates
Starting with the second semester on January 4, here is what will be different:
Snow Days/AMI Days
District procedure is standard for all buildings to have AMI from 8:00 – 3:40. We will be following the following framework. The AMI day would be the color day being missed.
Ex. Monday is a RED day with clear weather and a full day of school. However, Monday night is a snowstorm so Tuesday (a WHITE day) is AMI. When the roads are clear and school attendance returns on Wednesday, it is a RED day just as called for in the long-range calendar.
Late Start Days
The district might announce a two-hour delayed start for students if there are dangerous weather, temperature, or road conditions in the morning that are forecasted to improve later in the day.
If the district announces a delayed start for students, the school will start at 9:50 AM. The school will end at its normal time, and afternoon bus drop-off times will be the same as usual. Please see the attachment for the 2021-2022 PHHS Late Start Bell Schedule.
No early drop-off:
Students must be dropped off at school two hours later on delayed-start days.
Professional Studies programs:
Morning Professional Studies programs will be canceled. This includes the Northland Career Center, Northland CAPS, Metropolitan Community College’s Business and Technology program, and all Park Hill Professional Studies courses. Afternoon Professional Studies programs will still take place.
Nutrition:
Lunch will be provided on late start days. Breakfast will be a grab-and-go option.
Early release days:
If we have a delayed start on a day scheduled for early release, there will be no early release that day.
No Outside Food Deliveries for Students
Please remember that we do not allow outside food to be delivered to students. This is not just a Covid policy, but something we do to help our processes run more efficiently. In the past, we've been overrun with food deliveries, which can be difficult when our front office is dealing with more pressing matters.
Severe Latex Allergy Alert
COFFEE WITH DR. KINCHELOE
TIME: 8:00 a.m.—9:00 a.m.
WHERE: PHHS Lobby Conference Room
Join Dr. Kincheloe in the lobby conference room for an informal discussion about Park Hill High School. This is a great opportunity for you to ask questions about our school philosophy, how class sections are formed, technology, testing, community connections, or whatever is on your mind. Drop by and share your thoughts and concerns. We’ll keep the coffee hot for you.
Mark your calendars! No R.S.V.P. needed.
