Exam Exemptions (Absences/Tardies)

Parents and Students:

Please pay attention to attendance. Absences and tardies affect all students at the end of each semester when it comes time for exemptions. Make sure you have all corrections made to your attendance within 48 hours of the absence. Corrections cannot be made at the end of the semester. Please read the following regarding absences and exemptions.

Students may be exempted from 3 semester exams for classes in which they have a semester average of 85 or above AND have no more than two absences that semester from that class, AND are present on the exam days for the periods being exempted.

Students may not just sign in and leave during exams. They must remain in the testing classroom for the entire testing period in order to receive their exemption.

Students in EOC tested courses (Algebra I, English I, English II, Biology, and US History) are required to take fall semester exams; however, they are not required to take a spring semester exam in the EOC tested subjects.

The second semester courses exempted shall not be the same courses exempted the fall semester.

For exemption purposes only, 3 tardies = 1 absence no matter where they occur across the schedule. These are added to each period's absences. (If you have 3,4,5, tardies = 1 absence; 6,7,8 tardies = 2 absences; 9 or more tardies = CANNOT EXEMPT ANY CLASSES).

Exemption Forms Available, Tuesday, December 1st

Exemption forms will be distributed to eligible students during 2nd period on Tuesday, 12/1. Students will have 2 A-days and 2 B-days to get grades and teacher and parent signatures. Students must turn in original completed forms by Friday, 12/4 at 4:00 p.m. No faxes or copies will be accepted and loss of the form will automatically disqualify a student from exempting. Forms can be turned in to Ms. Carrizales A212 or Ms. Sheavly H131. Instructions and guidelines are printed on the forms.

Who's Who at CRHS: Meet Zachary Jackson

I teach Visual Arts at CRHS! I'm passionate about art. I am very fortunate I am able to work with my natural gifts in a vocation where I can share what I've learned with others, while continuing to further my own learning.

I have degrees from University of Texas in Radio-Television-Film; The Art Institute of Houston in Convergent Media; and Texas State University in Art Education.

I'm a native Texan. I've lived in the Austin area for 18 years now, and I don't think I'll ever leave. I've been happily married for 9 years, with no children - yet. We have two dogs, though - Biscuit and Boudreaux. I love all types of food, music and culture, and my wife and I travel frequently.
My birthday always falls during Spring Break, and I have a tradition of going to watch a Spurs game every year at that time. Go Spurs, Go!

Of course, there's all the drawing, painting, sculpting and throwing, but I also enjoy golf, cooking, reading, and watching films, football and basketball.
