Dry Creek Explorer Express
A Note From the Principal
It has been such a smooth start to the school year! I've been able to spend time this week helping out with recess and connecting with students in the cafeteria. I'm excited to meet more families at Back to School night on Tuesday, so please don't hesitate to stop and introduce yourself during the evening.
With the start of school, also comes heavier traffic flow around the school at drop-off and pick-up times. I want to take a moment to share some traffic safety considerations:
- Please obey all rules of the road to keep children out of harm’s way. Vehicles should follow speed limits, stop at crosswalks and stop signs, yield the right of way to pedestrians and bicyclists and not make U-turns on the main roads around the school.
- Please use the crosswalks at all times. We are trying to reinforce the expectation that children use the crosswalk to keep them safe and would appreciate your help by modeling this when you are crossing the street.
- Please do not park on the east side of Quince St. between the No Parking signs in front of and behind the crosswalk. This will allow the crossing guards to view pedestrians trying to cross the street.
- Please only use the front parking lot when dropping off your child in the morning. This ensures students are exiting in a safe location in the front-drive.
Each day Dry Creek crossing guards and school staff are asked to supervise outside during morning arrival and afternoon dismissal to maintain student safety. They take this responsibility very seriously and I'm asking for your support by always following the directions of school personnel and ensuring you are alert and aware to those around you.
Together we can ensure student safety is our number one priority!
