Principal's Message
As I've listened to staff over the past few weeks discuss Multi Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS), I realized we do not have a common definition of what it means. Essentially, MTSS is a framework for continuous school improvement. MTSS involves using coaching, collaboration, communication, tiered instruction, and data-based problem solving to improve our school. One of the most important aspects of MTSS is core instruction. This is why we've been digging into PLT practices and setting goals because PLTs are a powerful way to make our school better. I look forward to collaborating with each of you as we implement MTSS at PUE.
Data Review
Tuesday morning at 8:00 is our 1st quarter Data Review. Team Leaders will come to share their team’s 1st quarter data and team reflections on strengths in instructional practices and areas for growth. Thank you for your work in preparing for this meeting.
Global Education in October
During October, we will study Life on Land. Forests, farm lands and animals impact our daily lives and are central to our study of Life on Land. If you are looking for Global resources, look no further! Explore Global Resources using the PUE Global Site with your team & plan with your team.

Announcements/Reminders
This year’s main fundraiser is the Pleasant Union Panther Fun Run! It’s a two-week program that kicks off with a pep rally on 10/10 (T1,2,3) & 10/22 (T4). Families will then gather pledges for every lap your student runs (30-35 laps) at the Pleasant Union Panther Fun Run, which will happen on 10/17 (T3) & 10/28 (T1,2,4). This year our goal is to raise $30,000 for Technology, Cultural Arts Programs, Instructional Supplies, Family & Staff Events, and Scholarship Funds, and we need your help! We’ve asked the experts at booster to power our fundraiser to make it easier, more profitable, and more fun.
Students will also experience an amazing character theme, Mindspark: Wild West! Booster’s most exciting theme yet combines S.T.E.A.M. skills (science, technology, engineering, arts, and math) with character-building. While they're teaming up with the Mindspark kids to save Dr. Shock, our students will learn five character traits that will help strengthen themselves and our world.
Donations will go toward Technology, Cultural Arts Programs, Instructional Supplies, Family & Staff Events, and Scholarship Funds and the entire two-week experience. So please help our school by getting pledges from family and friends and entering them on funrun.com. Also, all families are invited to come out and cheer on our students at the Pleasant Union Panther Fun Run. Thanks so much for your support!
WCPSS Guidelines for Outdoor Cooking
The use of open flame cooking devices (fryers, smokers, grills fueled by gases, liquids or solids - propane, charcoal, wood, pellet, or otherwise) by staff, students, parents, volunteer organizations, PTAs or Booster Clubs is prohibited on WCPSS sites unless use has been approved by WCPSS Risk Management. This does not pertain to food trucks. Guidelines for food trucks are included here.
October School-wide Action for Global Education (Life on Land)
Pennies for Our Panther is a way for our school to raise money in order to "adopt" an endangered animal. Students will turn in pennies (only pennies) to their teachers during the designated collection period. At the end of the collection period whichever class has the collected the most pennies will get to name the endangered animal! In the adoption kit there is a plush stuffed animal, a photograph, and an adoption certificate. A flyer with collection dates and additional information will be shared soon.
