Mika
A brave, determined, resourceful, kind, smart boy
Summary of the Book!
I read the book Roar. This book is about twins and one of the twins, Ellie, got kidnapped. After a year of her being gone, they all thought that she was dead...except for her twin brother Mika. Mika would not accept that she was dead. For example, he would not let his mother wash her bed sheets ever, even after a year had gone by. He was determined to find her. One day at school, they gave the class something to watch, and Mika and his counselor watched it together. Mika's counselor had been helping him get over Ellie. While they were watching it, she knew something about Ellie. She told him to go play this game at the arcade, and it would help him find his sitter. When he played the game, he was flying a pod for the chance to win a vacation. He won the game earning him the vacation. He took it.
He participated in all kinds of different competitions to get to his sitter. His parents didn't understand that the games were all leading Mika to Ellie. At one of the competitions, he got hurt. He almost died, so his parents wanted to take him out. Mika knew that he would not be able to find his sister without continuing on, but in the end he............You will have to read the book to find out. Trust me you will like it!!
Podfighter
Mika would take a pod fighter to protect himself from the animals and possible borgs he might encounter on his trip. If you go to page 320 and read that chapter it will give you some evidence of why he would take the pod fighter with him on his vacation. Also on page 427 it says "If Mal Gorman finds out we've taken a pod fighter before we tell him we're not trying to run away, he'll go ballistic (Roar, p427)."
Communication Tool
Mika uses a device that he won from the pod fighter game. So he could communicate with his friends and if something happened he would be able to get a hold of someone. At one point in the book, he use it to contact his counselor and his friend Kobi. It would definitely by something he would take with him just in case anything happens.
